Well the price of a barrel is up more than $10 since the beginning of the year. Ive read some reports that due to the weak US dollar and strong demand from China and India along with an OPEC cut in production, the price can go up to $60 a barrel. Is it time to tap into our strategic oil reserves? Maybe Exxon Mobil who saw record profits last year can have sales on gasoline. But I doubt either of those will happen

In the mid-1970s, the US had a major energy crisis. Why the F*!, hasn't the US Government found a way to distance us from our dependence on OPEC oil!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's only so much oil left on the planet. The USA needs a serious strategic development of a source of energy immediately.

Enough with all the politics and bi-partisian fighting. We need solutions to major issues. Who gives an F#! whose idea works--as long as it works.

I want to see those Middle East Bastards eating sand because we came up with a new energy source.

The Energy Crisis first gripped the US about 31 years ago. Damn it! That's plenty of time to come up with a solution.

It has nothing to do with inventing new energy sources. We already have several renewable gasolne alternatives. The issue has more to do with the secondary requirements for alternative fuel vehicles, including the distribution of the fuel, refueling stations, manufacturers to build the vehicles and parts, and mechanics who know how to fix them when they break.

Besides, we didn't even have the developmental tools back in the 70's and 80's to come up with this technology. Do you even remember how slow computers were back then? Try sitting down at a Apple IIc and sending an email. That alone takes thirty years.

Have patience. Gas Electric Hybrid technology JUSt made it onto the consumer market. Hyrodgen powered cars are decades away from being commercially viable...mainly b/c the investment required to build refueling stations is too considerable and not economically feasible at this point...

Man, it could be a whole extra $2-$3 to make your entire car work.

Hydrogen doesn't power hydrogen powered cars. I know that sound like an oxymoron, but hydrogen only carries energy, which needs to be created from a different source. And what do you think that source would be today?

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles won't solve our dependence on oil unless we have other sources of energy plentiful enough and cheap enough that we can afford it.
