Actually, they got divorced some time back. Edge is now on marriage number two with some other broad. But maybe that's about to end too.

The Torch had reported a few weeks back that apparently Johnny Ace got heat backstage because he found out that one of the workers was screwing a diva on the side, and told them that a) they couldn't divorce their wife and b) if he didn't cut out the shenanigans, he'd move him to the other brand. The worker apparently went over Ace's head to complain to Vince.

At that point, no one knew who the guilty parties were, but there was plenty of speculation. About a week or so ago, though, Matt Hardy made some cryptic remarks on his website which basically indicated that he & Lita where through because she had somehow betrayed him. At that point, everyone pretty much figured Lita was the diva in question, but no one knew who the worker was until this new story broke.

None of us should really care about these people's private lives, but this is sufficiently scandalous (and the ridiculous reaction of Matt Hardy in particular) that it's fun to watch in a trainwreck kind of way.

They both may be bastards for screwing over Hardy, but let's face facts, all of this shit is over something in their PERSONAL lives, not the business. Edge doesn't deserve being demoted for this. Neither does Lita. The WWE would be pretty hypocritical for doing either, given that infidelity isn't exactly a foreign occurrence in the company.

The only logical argument for either Edge or Lita being punished is that the end of the Matt Hardy / Lita relationship MAY have disrupted some future storyline plans involving Lita & Hardy. But quite frankly, all that rates is maybe a MINOR punishment.

The converse of all of this is true for Hardy. Why does he deserve to be rewarded for this? Sympathy? Screw that. If the WWE should push him, they should push him only because a) he's decently over and b) he's fairly talented on the microphone and in the ring. I think they should move him to Smackdown, but not to eliminate any work problems, rather because Smackdown needs the star power and Matt's better off in the midcard there than jobbing on Heat.

Ummm Lets see. They broke one of the most important wrestling rules that there is. DON'T BANG A FELLOW WRESTLERS SPOUSE!!!. Its a rule. In fact Lita and Edge had to appear before the board and explain themselves. Its there because if everyone did it. Everyone would be fighting and there would be no fed. It is their personal lives, however when it affects the locker room it becomes the WWE's business. Now they have to be concerned about keeping these guys on the same show or if they could be put in the ring together without seriously hurting one another.

Other than wrestling, a lot of other business and companies have policies about relationships with co-workers.

Now before people start going "Lita and Matt were together while they both worked for WWE blah blah blah..." know this:

1. they were together before they were in the WWE, and that is the only exception to the rule of "don't get involved with co-workers"

2. they were separated at one time (matt on SD!, lita on Raw), and both didn't mind it too much. WWE had no problem with them being together in their personal lives, and Matt and Lita understood why at that time they were put on different shows.

Matt Hardy responded to a poster on his official website forums about publically speaking about his personal relationship with Lita:

Just for the record, I never told anyone the story in it's entirety until news sites on the internet started breaking the story (and there's still a ton of appalling things you guys don't know). I took down Amy's pictures on my site and in my house because they were sickening to look at. When the story started coming out, in no form or fashion was I going to allow myself to look like the bad guy. I couldn't afford personally or professionally to let incorrect versions of the story stand. I just wish you guys could have experienced the truth and saw what actually happen. You can take my word for what it's worth-in your eyes and heart. Adam Copeland is feces. As upset as I am with Amy now, I still care about her and I would hate to see her destroy her life. I never "insulted the internet world", I only used one writer's article as an example of what not to do or be influenced by on the net. I love the internet concept-my goal is to always help make it better, not tear it down. If I remember correctly, my post was to ask people to make their own opinions based on the facts and their own judgments. Not to just take someone else's opinion as fact, especially if they're not an expert in a given field. The same thing goes for me-I give you information, and you decide what to do with it. I think my track record speaks for itself.

As a public figure, I willingly had to give up my privacy once I started appearing on TV week in and week out, as all WWE superstars do. There would be no "scandal" to talk about if there had not been a "scandal" in the first place.
