This just started happening recently. When I send an email my computer locks up for about 30 seconds. It also happens when I click on the sent items folder. Any ideas on why this would happen and how I can fix it?

Outlook express sucks. Step up to the REAL Outlook. It is bundled with Office, and "readily available"

so does that mean that it was

I have an old comp running windows 98 that I'm going to replace in the next few months so I'd rather just fix this problem.

Check out your e-mail provider. You're probably having trouble connecting. Either they're experiencing a high serverload or you may not be accepting their connection (check firewall settings).
Also, make sure your account in Outlook Express is configured correctly. If you need, for example, to connect through a secure connection, make sure the appropriate box is checked.
One more thing that may be happening... there could be some sort of prompt that's popping up that you may have missed (now appearing in the background instead of the foreground). If you don't do anything with it, it could cause your Outlook Express to disable until you choose 'Yes' or 'No'. You should close all your windows and see if there are any dialouge boxes that appear. One message I get is "The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could not be veirified... Would you like to continue?"
Good luck! I hear this week's newsletter from "Lucky Lesbos In Your Inbox" is pretty sexy.

OK, for now, I am guessing your machine is running some sort of spyware. Go to "you know where" and download Spysweeper.
This is especially true if other programs are sluggish.
win98 is still an OK platform, but offers no firewall protection. If you are surfing alot, the new spyware is ruthless!

Fill your case with water. That should drown all the bugs and viruses. Let it air out for a few days and you'll be back on your feet in no time!

I just got off the phone with customer support. What they said was that my firewall/anti-virus software was using up all my resources. I guess they were right since they had me shut it down and then Outlook worked fine. Oh well, maybe I'll be getting a new comp sooner than later.

Oh it is. It so is.

I've never used Outlook because I've always connected to the internet with AOL.
Guess I have crap like this to look forward to.

I think it's like 5 bucks for a fifth. Same with Night Train.

Sorry. It's an old thing some carpenters told me about. The little ditty went:
Whats the word? Thunderbird.
What's the price? A quarter twice.
Not sure if this was part of their ad campaign or just something they said themselves, but multiple carpenters on multiple jobs knew of the cheap shit.

I've heard that, too. I think it's passed down but it has to be from the 50's at least.

Yea, it's got to be back from a time when you could get a bottle of wine, even cheap wine for 50 cents. Jesus.
