It was workin fine last night, but today, everytime I try to log on, it gives me an error message sayin

Your buddy list and buddy icon are not available currently, but they have not been lost.
Please try again later.

How the fuck do they lose my buddy list? Am I just supposed to sit here twiddling my thumbs till they "find" it and I can log on again?

When shit like that happends i just reinstall aim and it works fine.

Sounds like a networking problem, I come across the same thing from time to time.

That's a problem on AOL's side... You're just gonna have to wait it out. They lost my entire AIM account for like 4 or 5 days once. I was furious, cuz I use AIM a lot, and they refused to give me ANY support, cuz AIM is a free service. So I had to make a new screenname and tell everyone I changed it... Then all of a sudden, after like 5 days, I was able to log onto my regular screenname again. I never got any sort of explanation from AOL, but they are fuckers.

I get an error that pops up whenever I load Windows... it's called AIM...

seriously, I've gotten this once or twice. I think you just gotta wait it out. Either that, or go to AOL Headquaters and blow it up.
