I hate the new single.

Trent seems to have forgotten what made his music interesting...merging electronic/hip-hop-style production with industrial. You can dance to the best NIN songs. This is just some dirge that even Stabbing Westward wouldn't put out as a b-side.

I've never heard of Jack Johnson before, but whenever his single comes on I have to change the station so I don't fall asleep and drive right off the road. All I know is that every rock station was jacking his johnson over his cd, and I personally don't get the appeal

I like Bite the Hand very much. Reminds me of Pretty Hate Machine. Which was less hip hop infused with Industrial than Pop (ballads, dance, some hip hop) mixed with industrial. Reznor, in my opinion, has always been just on the verge of mainstream without falling totally in.

I heard it on xm last week, but only caught half of it. I need to listen to it again and haven't had time to dl the vid.

The reason there hasn't been an album in 6 years is Trent became an alcoholic and finally dealt with it last year.

And which is a better album title "With Teeth" or "Bleed Through"? (BT was the original title)

Oasis is worse than Coldplay......but not by much.

I eagerly await the new NIN. I'll just go buy the single, I didn't even know it was out. It seems like when ANY FAN is waiting for a repeat of the sounds of one album or a sounds an artist was putting out at one time, their expectations are never met.

Don't compare the songs to anything, if you can help it. Just listen to them. Judge them on their own. I could listen to "Down in It" followed by "Ruiner" and finish it out with "La Mer" and it would all be good, but it's all different.

I really enjoyed the hell out of this album, and I was never a huge NIN fan back in the day.

I noticed both this and the new Beck album, which I also loved, kinda got dissed by credits as being made by artists who were just "returning to form" and trying to harken back to the sound of their best albums...for NIN, "The Downward Spiral," for Beck, "Odelay."

But the thing is...that's when these guys were at their best. And while the attempts to branch out were cool, they were always just lesser results of their peaks. I mean, look at the most famous painters throughout history...for the most part, you saw one of their paintings, it was always done in their "style." You knew that paitning belonged to that artist. Why don't music acts get cut the same slack? I'm not saying people should make the same album over and over again...but if they kinda come back to a previous sound they fucking OWNED, well, why the fuck not?
