fuck that, we never struggle to get 2 teams, its just one team usually ends up with 18 and the other with like 5 and we have to redo the roster.

if O&A fans want to play, they can join our board.

And Snoog, we couldn't fill 2 teams last August. Lopsided or not, we didn't have 18 players the whole time.

Count me in, but perhaps we should instate a rule that if one team wins by 30 runs in a three inning game, the next game should procede only after a re-shuffling of the rosters.

I can bring some people (aside from the ones that play poker). I've been throwing it out (about playing softball with you all) and so far everyone expressed interest. Now if there's a basketball court too where you all play at, it'll be no problem. We can play football too while we're at it.

We can go old school. Play at the field near P.S. # 5 (Funkman's old stomping grounds in Jersey City). All we have to do is sneak under the fence and bring our own bases (one of my friends made bases with their old 12 inch records). But if the cops come to kick us out, you all better scatter! Ever since they "improved" the field, they really don't like people messing it up. The field used to be open but they put locks on it ever since.

There seems to be interest, so I'll try to get a field this week..

Actually getting an ankle brace is not a bad idea. Every softball event we had I bought 2 ankle braces from like RiteAid. They really help.

Count me in too.  As for where to play, not playing in NJ would be stupid since 80% of the players that actually show live there.  Lower NY is cool too, basically something outside of NYC in NY or NJ works best.  Mdr's field sounds sweet.  Can we play at night?  I fit nicely under fences.  One serious point; we should hold off on picking teams until the start of the game.  This way we don't have one team with all their best players showing up and the other with a full squad of retarded Snoogan types.

Like I have said the last two years I would totally play cause I really
enjoy playing baseball or softball. I just get so terribly terrified
that I would screw up and cost the game if I did play I couldn't deal
with the ridicule. I actually got within two blocks of the game last
year. Maybe I can get over it by the time summer rolls around.

Simply put, it's a nightmare because of you CH.  That and fuck public transportation when I have my own car & need to bring a lot of shit for the alcoholics, for the grill and for the ladies (nj scratch offs and bats with balls).  Sooooo, eat your soup and rent a car for a trip to NJ.  Hell, half of those that complain never make it no matter where we have it.  At least in NJ we know we'll have the core group and some others with at least a minimal ability to get somewhere.  In fact, I haven't heard either of you doing the leg work to get us a field.  Jon put it out there, you simply made requests.  The only NY peep (outside of the organizer) who ever came to the LI game was Pants and he makes every game, so we know he's hooked on our drug.  If you can't come for the game, come for the great NJ water or clear skies. <img src="http://members.aol.com/dxixrxt/spoon2.jpg" border="0" /> Get your balls out of your purse and step up to flavor! What's with all the complaints about having the game in
Jersey?  Granted there are people in LI that would have to *gasp*
travel, or hitch a ride in some way, but you'd get the same issue for
people from NJ travelling to LI!  I try to make each game, but the
last few have been scheduled when I have other things going on (trips
to Indianapolis, St. Louis, etc).  It won't matter to me where the
game is played, if I have the date available, I will go, and bring
stuff with me (food/drink) for the people.Put your name in the hat, find a damn ride, and play ball!

I hate to say it, but Spoon is right. With all the stuff we usually bring to these games public transportation is really usless. We would have to use our cars. Also people are not really remembering that we need to use a field that allows alcohol as well as cookouts. That alone slims the list down to a select few location. I know alot of people do not like to travel out to NJ (for whatever reason) but let's face it, to get here it is not that difficult. I did not mind travlling to Havestraw (or however you spell it) for the game last year, the only problem was the field was in so so condition (that and you had to pee in the bushes)I am sure we can find SOMETHING SOMEWHERE. Hey CH cheer up.  I only have a disdain for you, not total hatred yet. (I hope you can sense my sarcasm, it truly is hate.)  <<--joke.  Like many stated before me, I will make the trip if I have the date open.  If it's in NYC, I'll be there too.  I'll just bring an extra bat to use on CH.  Still, why did my man Justice's field get shot down?  I moved during the last game, did the field suck?  It couldn't have been in worse shape than Haverstraw.  In fact, a field with actual fences would rule.  It would allow us to watch those "Funky" shots soar over them at huge heights (Tooly too; if he shows).  As for Tool's field, $400 is just nuts.  Let's save our funds for the beer and strippers.

No one ever said the reason it was shot down, Do
you really need a reason?  One of the decision makers and
representitives of the board said we couldn't use that field again so
it's pretty much cut and dry.  It shouldn't be any of your concern
whether someone spoke to a lawyer or not, but it should be fairly
common sense that if there was an incedent at the field during a board
organized event, it would be in everyone's best interest not to go back
to "the scene of the crime".  And  you don't need to be a
mind reader when someone has said that we can't use the field several
different  times in this thread. Now quit being a drama queen, and if you have any real help to offer, contact Jon privatly (like he has also said several times in this thread).

I live like 2 minutes away from Rahway & Westfield the only problem is one doesn't like white people and the other doesn't like any minorities. thats not safe at all. so i'm saying like merril park or some place like that.  and i'll up it to 4 cases of natty ice or busch if we play in jersey!!

Holy Shit Hosp!  What the living fuck pissed you off so much?  I personally find the "talked to a lawyer" excuse hilarious even though I truthfully don't give a fuck where we play.  It's a physical game and people can get hurt at any time.  I just spoke to my legal consultant (this guy watches Law and Order a lot and used a real estate laywer once in 1997) and he told me that half the people shouldn't play since their athletic prowess makes them a liability (joke).  Is this the next step?  Shouldn't we then take everyone off the field who pose a risk to themselves and each other?  We had a guy break a wrist playing hockey at the Ice House, and we still play there (gasp).  There are a lot of rumors about how some people have left the board, and if the current management doesn't realize soon that it isn't about them, the board will be shit in no time.  People need to check there fucking egos and realize everyone is just trying to help and figure this shit out.  Ripping Justice is a joke and we could only be so lucky to have his help, as he's put together some great "unofficial" events.  If one was to read the posts not knowing anything about anyone here; Jon comes off as a control freak and Hosp sounds like the ass kiss for some unknown reason.  Seriously Jon, what gives with the retard comment?  Let's cut the shit and work the field situation out.  If not, perhaps another "unofficial" event will take the pressure off you since it turns you into something you're not.  And somebody tussle Hosp's hair and calm him down.  See everyone after my "vacation" since I took the "wrong" side here.   I'll be sure to pick my spots the next time I bat......I hope everyone plays goalie well.<img src="http://members.aol.com/dxixrxt/spoon2.jpg" border="0" /> Get your balls out of your purse and step up to flavor! To try to get the thread back on track there is a field in Jersey that I have played at in Sayreville NJ it's central jersey, its  a nice field with grills alcohol is allowed i believe there is a shop rite and a liquor store about a block away and a quick chek across the street, so if you guys want i can see what'll take to get it and for what day it would be availiable, so just trying to help out...let me know

c.o.f. thanks alot but $500 is more then what we are looking to spend.I tried getting something here in Queens but all the good fields are being used for leagues.I was wondering if anyone is down to get warmed up? Throw the ball around, hit the cages, see how much booze we can put away, then do it all again? Actually I been playing alot of stickball lately. New York (right off the Verazano Bridge). There are like 5 or 6 fields
and most of them aren't occupied. They allowed u to drink beer and BBQ.
We also dnt need a permit to play there, its the city u could do
whatever the hell u want. All u need is a date to play the game.

a liquor permit and the cops would fuckin HOUND us. it fuckin sucks up

Ok, time to take charge of this bullshit.  No more excuses.  Justice, lock up that field near you and it won't be an official event.  It's simple, there are a lot of people waiting and Tom could line up a field in north central Jersey.  If anyone has a problem with this field come to the table with another option or shut up.  We all know it'll be the same people as usual.  And I'd bet we'll bring in a lot of people from the poker games who will be a ton of fun.  So here's what we need to do:1)  Tom, lock up that field for a Saturday in late July if possible.  If not, get us an August date.  We'll worry about a second set of games later, with a September date in mind.  2)  We'll post the date and get a head count.  Teams will be picked at the actual game.  This will allow us the even the teams out better as most of the time a lot of players don't show up and the balance of power has been real bad at times.  Most of us now know our level of play. 3)  We then need to find out who's bringing what.  *It that simple.  Let's get on this.  And people, good or bad, don't let your level of play keep you from playing.  We have a great time and nobody gets bent out of shape by bad play.  Yet be prepared for some harsh shit talking and great color commentating.  The whole game is one big bust fest (that sounds nice doesn't it) with a lot of booze consumed with friends, some old many new.  So let's get this shit back on track.

just so you apathetic tools know, the company i'm working for can do anything, and i repeat ANYTHING.  we could have custom jerseys, with embroidered hats, laser engraved game balls and crystal game trophies.not that i can get them mad cheap; just skipping commision and a few other costs.  just trying to motivate you douches b/c if this game was to be held in the mighty A-L-B, shit woulda been taken care of a while ago.

I will TRY to keep from getting the same field as we had last time. If that is the only one available it will have to do. I doubt it will be though, since there are about 5-6 fields in this area we could use. I am sure not ALL of them are booked in August.I figure maybe Augst 13th? Gives us about a month to prepare. I won't play or show up but I can resurrect my Bennington's &
Whatley's Shirt designs from last year and actually Screen Print up
some shirts if there is still interest. My friend got a prety nice
screen printing machine and we are going into a small business venture
together. I figure, we're both artists and we are really artistically
talented so why not.
