Up to episode 2 on BBC. Anyone else been watching the 2005 take on this classic series?

It's
pretty cheesy so far, but cheesy in a BBC kind of way. Billie
Piper is pretty cute, though, in an ugly English girl kind of way.

When's it on, I might check it out. My boyfriend loved the original so I'm sure he'll want to watch it. I've never seen one episode so I'll have no idea if I like Dr. Who or not.

The new doctor is a quirky badass. Kind of like Colin Baker's doctor crossed with... Fonzie?

I've been a long time fan and have been following the filming since it began last year. I was a little dissapointed ti hear that it wouldn't be aired in the US until the entire first run of the season was broadcast in the UK. Fortunately I found www.niteshdw.com and I am able to download the new episode on Saturday afternoon as early as two hours after the original broadcast in the UK.

On the series itself I wasn't two thrilled with the first episode but I realize the importance of building the foundation of the story for a new fan base. I do have to say that after the first episode they got better.

I'm not sure if everyone knows but Eccleston who is playing the Doctor will not be returning next season which seriously limits the run of the series since most actors have played multiple seasons prior.

The best part of it is that I make video cassette copies for my grandfather who originally got me into the series over 20 years ago. I haven't gotten his take on the new series so it'll be interesting to hear his perception of the 21st century version.

Now that I've completely "geek-ed out"....I'm done.

The character of the Doctor can regenerate 12 times which would mean that there could be 13 possible actors. As stated above McGann was considered the 8th (which while I enjoyed the movie, I felt they should've gotten him back for a longer run). Obvioulsly Eccleston 9th and Tenant (sp?) as the 10th.

What I'm really hoping for and from what I've read of Tenants comments is that he would like to star in more than one season which would help the series life in general.

I wish Eccleston would've stayed for a few seasons. I've enjoyed the first six episodes so far and I think he's done justice to the role and helped establish it as a viable 21st century continuation of the original series.
