Ok I know with the longest mile and other movies coming out it raises the question. Arent there too many movies being remade?? Are there too many movie being remade in hollywood or is it just me?? The Longest Yard, The Italian Job...next I will be horrified they are making remakes of The great escape and Bridge on the River Kwai.

I'm so with you on this Doog. Some remakes turn out well, but usually not.

Hollywood is so unoriginal, yet I still go see crap movies. I guess it's my fault.

I guess where Reality TV came about in it's popularity cause there
is such a lack of TV being written these days or maybe it was the
Actors Strike scare or just that people really are that dumb to be
watching the likes of Survivor and The Apprentice, it looks like movies
are going the same route where there is no originality and remaking is
the best way to make a quick buck.

I mean, Back to School?
Cedric the Entertainer? Urbanized? That movie is still pretty fresh in
people's minds. How in the hell are they going to pull off the school
diving team bits? Who would be the "Kinison" in the film? Who will redo
the memorable action of Robert Downey Jr. as the Poster Child for Birth
Control?

Amazing. At least I won't have to see it.

the new willy wonka movie looks so terrible. how could you ever think you could remake that movie. its perfect just the way it is. and depp is the last person i would have picked to play willy wonka, i would rather see gene wilder play him again, no one can do it like him.

I agree with the Wonka viewpoint. As much as I want to see it, it is
sucha cherished movie from my childhood AND adulthood it is one of
those films that should just not be touched.

There should be some
kind of rule with remakes where there should be some kind of time
passed, say 40 years. A generation or two even. Remake something that
maybe wasn't a huge hit. Like, as much as I love the Russ Meyer films
part of me would LOVE to see a remake of UP! or Mudhoney. Obscure films
would work really well as remakes cause so few knew the original.

I have no problem with remakes of older movies that can be translated into a new generation ( like Texas Chainsaw Massacre * Dawn Of The Dead ) but a movie like Back To School hasn't had time enough to stew in order to be remade.

Plus putting Cedric ( I refuse to use that title he attaches because he is so unfunny ) in it is a cheap way to try and get the movie to another audience.

It seems like this hump Cedric is competing with Anthony Anderson for every " black comedy relief " role

The difference is that at least Anderson is funny,

Thats just awful

I had actually heard about that a while back but thought it was dead because I never heard any more about it.

They should have Tom Arnold ( who is on par with Cedric because I think he is equally as horrific ) do a remake of Good Times. Matthew Lillard can play Jimmy Walker's character.

Or do a remake of Roots with the likes of Freddie Prinze Jr, Dana Carvey and Rosie O'Donnell.

Mojo who are you talking about on the prequel ?

I know that they are making a Texas Chainsaw prequel.

I'm not hating on that too much because I like the ide of extending the Leatherface character.

As long as what they do doesnt take away too much from the origianl's " character " ( what there was of it ).

Hardball. The biggest problem with a Bears remake is that they can't have the kids drink, smoke, et al. in this PC world.

I'm not abig fan of Wonka, never was. I'm actually looking forward to Burton's take on that book.
