On May 12, the X-Box 2 will premier in a half hour special on
MTV. So not only does M$ jump ahead of the other console makers
by premiering before E3, but they're going to be doing it in front of
their core audience instead of the press and industry people.

Yup.
And they're genius' for doing that. Why the hell, am I going to show a
buncha 40 something year old farts a console that their children want?
I'm going to show their children! This is one of the many
reasons why Microsoft has stromed in and dominated the console wars.
I'm going to disrespect my PS2 by buying the new Microsoft instead of
buying some defective, underdeveloped PS3. At least I know I'd be able
to play the XBox for more than a month without sending it back to a
Sony repair center because ti broke down.

yeah, you obviously don't know the history of XBoxs, Jynx. I'm on my third and a friend of mine may have to get a 4th. Now I despise Sony so its not like i'm defecting but Microsoft doesn't exactly make them gems. And its not even an issue of overplaying or anything. Apparently even NY summers make it impossible to play more than like 3 hours a day.

That said Microsoft is the wins. Sony sucks its mighty nutsack.

I
had both a launch Playstation and Playstation 2. My Playstation's CD
Drive died after a little more than 2 years, I sent it in to be fixed
and it never gave me another problem.

My
Playstation 2, on the other hand, gave me random dics read errors
starting about a year in. I had to get it fixed, and the same problem
started up again after 6 months. I ended up sending it for service a
total of 3 times before I bought a totally new one. i've had that one
for about a year with no hint of a problem so far.

However,
launch X-Boxs had almost he exact same problem. Google "X-Box Thompson
Drive" and you'll see. And, just as with PS2, they fixed the problem. I
don't see why while Sony gets a deservedly bad rap while Microsoft
dodges it. Sony is 0 for 2, Microsoft is 0 for 1.

Frankly,
I don't care what Microsoft does, I'll never buy one of their systems.
They raped me for 3 years straight in the form of Windows ME. I'm
forced to use XP so that I can play decent PC games, but they'll never
get a cent more from me than what I pay for Windows. I've seen what
they do when they gain a monopoly, and I don't like it. And I think
we're starting to see hints of it already; the new "micro-payments"
systems that will be built in to X-Box live is just another way to get
people to keep on paying for the game after they bought it. There will
be no more free downloadable content, you'll pay for it from now on,
and I can easily imagine the day where that progresses into paying for
patches, or paying for content that previously would have just been in
the orignal game. I really hope Nintendo and Sony don't go down that
route. Furthermore, either one of them could make a splash by offering
an X-Box Live knockoff service for free.

I hate Sony AND Microsoft now. Who gives a shit what they do
with their system. The fact that they are premiering Xbox 2 on
MTV is enough to justify why I don't want it and never will.

Ignoring
the fact that there won't be a single original or creative game on
launch, I'm sure M$ will continue the legacy of bad hardware that Sony
has seemed to perfect.

And Nintendo already confirmed
that online services for DS and Revolution will in fact be FREE.
You've really got to be a fool to still stick with a Sony or Microsoft
console, but I guess some will never get it.
Nintendo could get a comparable lineup of third party games, I'd be all
over it. But that's just not the case. No GTA, no Metal Gear (other
than the remake of the original), no Silent Hill, it's just slim
pickens beyond Nintendo's awesome first party lineup.

This is exciting to see what the new consoles can do. I would never
by an x-box but this is the next generation of gaming consoles. fun
stuff

Oh and apparently everyone has there own stories about
their individual consoles but I've had my playstation 2 since they
first launched and I've never had any real problems. maybe just a
disk error here and there but i take care of my system and everythings
good.
