Trouble at School

Help me horde,

now, i know my persona is as a stupid kid who thinks he is a reporter and always gets stories wrong, but under all that is a freakeshly smart persona (not shown through my writing seeing as i'm dyslexic).
I'm always up to date on world events and i always know what's going on, and some times this leads to trouble.
On sunday, I spent the ENTIRE day reading Drudge (sadly not an exageration) I read articles over and over, some three times.
Today in Social Studies someone asked "how come it was dark in Afghanist-er-an and it was light out here?"
(not an exageration)
My social studies teacher responded it was midnight there and Afghanistan is twelve hours ahead of us.
I then called out that Afghanistan is 8 hours ahead of us. My social studies teacher said "whatever, it's a time zone"
everyone seemed astonished by my detailed information, i then said to a few people around me, "i'm very well informed" to answer their glairs.
The teacher then threw me out of the classroom, and demanded to know what i said (because he didn't hear me).
I responded that i explained to everyone i was well informed.
Apparently he thought i said
"he's not well informed" reffering to the teacher.
He won't take back throwing me out of the room, and he won't concede he was wrong.

Now i can not contradict him without "having an attitude"

DRUDGE JR - Teachers tend to fall into two schools of thought regarding corrections by students - The lousy (and insecure) teachers see it as a challenge to their authority and/or a disruption to the classroom routine. Their goal is to get through the day not to educate.

The good teachers actively encourage an open classroom dialogue which of necessity includes corrections. No person is an expert in every field. These teachers are in their profession becuase they like to educate and impart knowledge and reasoning skills to their students.

Obviously when given a choice, take the teachers who fit into the latter catagory.

I tend to dominate whatever class I'm in and since I'm a deconstructionist, I'll usually correlate class notes with independant research. Teachers who hate being corrected should be approached outside of class and apprised of the facts you've learned or know. The other, more open teachers prefer to be told in class, as it benefits all.

In your particular situation, your teacher's response, "whatever, it's a time zone," not only demonstrates an appalling lack of knowledge for a person in the education profession, but it also shows that he fits into the former catagory. Facts to these teachers are a nuisance.

I suggest you see this teacher during his office hours (on when you don't have class) and explain to him what happened. Many Atlases and many web sites give precise information about time zones around the world.

I thinks it's terrific that you're interested in your classes and factual knowledge. It's becoming a rarity with too many students these days. Develop an interest in, and pursue as many eclectic interests as possible. You'll become a 21st Century Renaissance Man.

I understand what you are saying about the different types of teachers, however i really wouldn't classify my teacher as in the second class. (and that's not just because he knows my alter-ego and he likes WNEW, so he could be reading this board)

I think he made a mistake and so far i've patched things over with him. But your absoloutly right about the differences between teachers who care and those who just don't, and there are certainly to many of the ladder.

i've been real nice so far on this short term return on the board, i've posted a few funny columns, maybe i've been a little sarcastic, but besides that i've been pretty nice.

Grrr , I can't stand teachers that think they have to be right all the time. I remember during Lunch once I was still eating when are vice princible told us to get up and leave though we still had four minutes. I told him "we still have four minutes though". He then made me go to his office and get a backround check on my grades and everything.

If I went to school with you I would hate you too. This is a lot like what happend to me. Exept I got back at him. I hacked into his computer and found a document to the princible saying I quit, and every 1 hates this guy so I printed out 500 copies and left them around school. (every 1 was soooo happy) but I couldn't say it was me because this stupid fag was REAL mad.
