Here’s the challenge. What entertainer can you think of, that has gone the longest without needing a “comeback”? I’m talking about entertainers that (once they hit the big time) never faded into oblivion for more than a year. They can be musicians, actors, models, etc. In other words, people who make a living in the entertainment industry (not journalists, politicians, religious leaders, or social advocates).

The first thing that comes to my mind would be U2. They have been a big act for around 25 years. I’m sure there is someone that has them beat. Who would you vote for?

Tom Cruise i would Guess.. He has been up there for a while. I think Russel Crowe will be one because everything he does is good. He does not pick crappy movies.

Mr. Cruise hasn't been as steady (in my opinion) as U2, but he's close.

My point is... damn... Crystal Pepsi would be a DAMN good name for a porn star!!!

Hmmm...I don't wanna give it to U2 because they slipped into a little downtime there when Bono lost his voice and the rest of the band did "Mission Impossible" theme. That was right around the time (perhaps it was POPmart) when the band completely stopped playing their entire back catalog and fans were pissed when the concerts were over.

This thread is hard to answer because it takes a looong time to make a movie or record an album and, in that time, the artist appears to be "missing in action".
"I'm looking for the 'Make Believe Ballroom'....Don't get fresh, Buddy!"

U2 completely fell off in the late 90's. "Pop" and the tour that followed may have sold well compared to most other bands, but they were distinctly "uncool" and very much considered done, and the sales blew for U2. Did you somehow miss the phalanx of dick-sucking press over "All That You Can't Leave Behind" (or whatever it was called) screaming that it was U2's "comeback" album?
