I got a flat monitor kind of like this:

But I am not sure how to clean the plastic like "glass" on it. Anyone know? Any special clearer/wipes or towels I should use or avoid?
Im always very anal about smudges or whatever on the screen, and I never touch the screen, but dust gets on it and stuff and I want to clean it but the booklet that came with it left out that little nugget of usefull info.

I tend to baby my computer stuff. I use the same cleaner rag thing that I use for my glasses or sun glasses. You can pick them up at sunglass hut for like 4 bucks or something. i think they are like a silk towel or something. But it def gets the dust and smudges off.

Thanks to Reef for my sig. You rock
Whatever you do, DON'T use
Windex. It damages the plastic, makes it cloudy and distorts the
image.
I will use a little windex, spray it onto a paper towel and lightly
wipe the monitor with it. If you down't want to do that, pick up
monitor wipes.

I was told by the maker of my screen to use water and paper towels, or alcohol if just water doesn't work well enough.

Oh...and NEVER windex. Never asked why though..........

So I got one saying to use Windex and one not to. I figure its not glass, so Ill stay away from glass cleaner. I think Ill try the damp rag or the eyeglass cleaner because they are mostly acrylic anyway and the eyeglass cleaning cloth. Would alcohol mess things up?

Monitor Lizard is a super hi-tech screen cleaner / protectant for your notebook LCD, Plasma TV monitor, CRT Display, Tablet PC, and even your PDA screen. Since these types of screens are very sensitive and prone to scratching, they require special care. If you want to preserve them as new, with absolutely no scratches or smears, you need Monitor Lizard. Even Leo La Porte of Tech TV fame has proclaimed MONITOR LIZARD as his favorite screen cleaner!

Monitor Lizard is environmentally friendly and 100% non-toxic and biodegradable. Monitor Lizard cleans and protects the LCD / Touch screen display surface by providing a renewable, anti-static barrier that reduces surface abrasion, resists finger printing and dramatically extends the LCD screen life. Also contains an anti-fogger! (Try it on your bathroom mirror and car windshield, too!)
