My specific job in the Marine Corps is ordnance. Anyways, 2 Fridays ago at Camp Pendleton there was a big ordnance picnic. There were hundreds of Marines there from a few bases. I can't tell you how many people there were all injured and everything from Iraq. It all came to a head when this one guy was forced to go onstage to recieve an award. He was paralyzed in Iraq in an attack that killed all these guys in his unit. Twice during his speech he had these moments where he kind of weirded out and couldn't talk. It was EXACTLY like Tom Cruise in Born on the Fourth of July. After the second time all these guys from his unit came onstage to kind of comfort him. Everyone in the crowd was so unbelievably uncomfortable. All I could think was, 'What a waste'.

there are good points to be made on both sides of 'this war" issue... whether you are/were for the war, or against it

for me it has not been worth the additional loss of American lives beyond the 9/11 attacks "which includes innocent Iraqi and other foreign victims" and the 10's of thousands of people who have been severely injured. Also throw in the hundreds of billions of dollars that have been spent and continue to add up.

People are trying to bring validity for the war being there have been no further "terrorists attacks" on our soil but it doesn't negate the fact that the amount of terrorist attacks throughout the world have doubled. When you think about it after the 93' bombing of the WTC we did not go to war and we didn't have a terrorist attack on our soil for almost 8 years.

A BIG THANKS for the brave soldiers who have been put in harms way!
