View Full Version : Bands that suck live

Have you ever anxiously waited to see a band you love live only to be horribly disappointed by the show? And you always remember it!
I have two that really stand out: the Violent Femmes and the Screaming Blue Messiahs. I remember both shows were extremely boring. The bands just stood there. No stage presence!

<p>OASIS. Boring and snotty. If you can't be bothered with us...don't book the shows. </p><p>COUNTING CROWS: Adam Duritz doesn't even ATTEMPT to sing ANY melodies like the recorded versions. It's impossible to sing along. And his pitch is terrible. And so is his endurance. And he doesn't know he's fat now. And he dances like a retard.</p><p>GUNS & ROSES: Axl Rose: Good energy but...really bad lead vox. Take his plate....he's done. F'cking crybaby.</p>

Tom Petty is the only musicalt act I have ever seen live where the live
performance was so bad, I started to dislike the recorded stuff. <br />

He did fine, but the sound really sucked. I don't think you can blame the band for that, though.<br />

Smashing Pumpkins when they were togeter were the WORST band I've ever seen live. First Corgan jumped and sung around the mic, so you only heard like half the lyrics. And they decided to play all their songs different than how they sounded on the album (usually this is a welcome change, but they played most of them in a incoherent, sloppy, way). I actually only stayed for 20 mins of the concert and demanded my money back.

Oooh! I forgot about them! I saw them open for Jane's Addiction before they got well know, and they were AWFUL! Good call, Evilpete.

<p>indy bands are usually boring to see. <strong>to the bassist:</strong> we all know you're too cool for us, but do you have to face the speakers instead of the crowd? </p><p>guided by voices is pretty funny to see- all ego yet wacked out of their minds.</p>

I forgot to mention the Chilli Peppers I saw them a couple years ago(when they just got out of rehab)....bands that are straight out of rehab suck both on the first album out and their first tour, it was like they were ashamed to play their old songs. Best part was some people in the crowd yelling "Get back on the Smack!!!"

<p> </p><p>the only real sucky shows i've seen have been artist in the later years of their career ... dylan, neil young and lou reed's las shows have been dreadful ... especially the last neil young dinner-theatre tour ...</p><p>springsteen last year at shea sucked ... he had the whole crowd pumped after "mary's place," then killed the mood and vibe with "41 shots" ...</p><p>and there are bands that i've seen a dozen times, and some nights were better than others ...</p><p>toad the wet sprocket was the only act that i've ever walked out on ... just really, really lame ...</p>

<p>The worst band I ever saw, relative to their popularity was Led Zeppelin at the Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland about 1977 or '78.</p><p> </p><p>In their favor, they were on time, walking onstage at 8 pm, picking up their instruments and doing a good version of "Rock and Roll."</p><p>They drearily went through the motions for about another hour before going into that horrid "Moby Dick," with it's interminable drum solo that, while lasting about an hour, seemed to go on for months on end.</p><p>The aisles were flooded with people leaving, and the better part of the "song" was performed for the ushers and bodyguards.</p><p>Going in, I was sure I was well-enough stocked with drugs in variety and quality to enjoy the show, but seldom have I ever been so wrong.</p><p>I would have rather swam across an ocean of buzzard puke than sit through what Plant, Page &co. subjected 20,000 of us to that night.</p><p>They finished up ok at the end, but the 15 minutes that was good did not make up for the 2-1/2 hours that was so putrid.</p><p> </p><p> </p>
