How much do you wanna spend?

Ultimate Ears have a new line called "Super-Fi" that cost around 200 bucks. Each earphone has two drivers each (4 drivers total). One handles the bass freq's, the other handles the Mids & Highs together. Very high sound quality. Really punchy. You will never go back to single driver earphones ever again.

www.ultimateears.com

I have the $900 version from their professional series. Hands down the best audio I've ever heard. My job paid for them but...if anything ever happened to them, I would replace them with my own money.

I got my girl a pair of these bad
boys for her birthday and she seems pleased. If you
don't want to spend that much money, I hear the ipod in-ear phones are
decent and they'll match.

And that's the end of my show.. donk.

If they have bluetooth headsets for cell phones, do they have anything wireless for the IPod?

My stupid buds got fucked up somehow and one ear stopped sending the same quality audio that the other one was. So I'm back to El Cheapo regular headphones. I can notice a difference in the quality of the sound, but I'll never drop more than 30 bucks on fucking headphones.

THEY'RE FUCKING HEADPHONES.

Does the iPod actually produce sound that good where professional quality headphones actually sound that much better than $20 sony buds?

You would actually spend close to Grand? .9 Boxes of Ziti? .9 Large?

I usually only listen to talk radio on my iPod so I wouldn't spend more than $40-$50. And I'd have a hard time doing that.

These aren't "normal" headphones. They have three drivers within each monitor (6 drivers total). They are designed for professional on-stage use. I was touring with somebody at the time and, thankfully, THEY paid for them. Now that I've heard them, there is no going back.

But YES...they really do make difference. In much the same way that a 12 cylinder Jaguar REALLY DOES out perform a 4 cylinder Toyota.

Sometimes, very expensive items are a total ripoff and sometimes "you get what you pay for". These are not a ripoff.

$900 is a bit much for me on a pair of headphones. I would like something that gives me better sound quality then the original ipod phones. I saw the sony ones for $40, but I have a past history of being disappointed in Sony products. After a google search there seems to be few choices $40 and under.

JohnnyCard

Or a $100 set?

They aren't using iPods on stage are they?

"Let He Who is Without Sin Kick the First Ass!"

Uncompressed audio files on an iPod definitely WILL benefit from hi-fidelity headphones. (audio is audio) BUT...if you're going to compress everything down below, say, 196kbs, then eventually...everything will kinda sorta sound the same.

Talk radio and sports shows obviously don't benefit from the in-ears either but, I use them when I listen to RnF solely because they block out 29db of outside noise. (the earplugs you wear at a rifle range reduce outside noise by 33db)

In the end...it's all what your needs and tastes are. My friend is a professional bicycle racer in Germany and France. He just spent $11,000 US Dollars on his bike. 11 GRAND!!!! FOR A BIKE!! But...he can appreciate the differences that we don't even notice. I thought he was nuts but, everyone in that racing class spends between 10 and 15 grand on their bikes. And they all have more than one!!

Like I said...I never woulda paid that much. They were part of my endorsement deal. But now that I've heard them...there is no going back. It would be like going back to Black & White Televisions.

I use the Apple In-Ear Headphone.
Unlike the cheap headphones that come with the iPod, these fit in your
ear, are comfortable, and block out outside noise... for $39.

And I can't see spending $900 on headphones, hell you could buy a couple iPods for that price.

Now that is a little more resasonable. When I clean up my finances a little and have some cash, I'm probably going to replace my broken ass buds with those things.
i wouldnt be so quick to judge somebody who is willing to throw down $900 on something that is important to them. i would be willing to spend $20,000 on a Parker shotgun if I had the money. if you're not into music real big, just get a $20 pair of headphones that block out outside noise.

Wow, um, getting back to the topic at hand, if you don't want to spend a grand on headphones you CANT go wrong with Sennheiser.

The MX 500 or it's cheaper brother the MX 300

Under
$20 and have kick ass sound. Quality German engineering
too. Oh, and a nifty wind up case thing too. Get one of
those two, you won't be disappointed and you wont be spending a boat
load of cash.

Thank You Fuzzybutt.

I was going to drop the 40 bucks on those In Ear headphones that iPod sells as a step up from the Buds, but I was still weary about it. I mean 40 bucks is still more than I'm comfortable spending on headphones. So talking with her in the car yesterday, she suggested that I just get a 10 dollar pair of Sony in ear headphones that she's used before and been happy with.

Went to Wal Mart, and low and behold, what did Moe see? 10 dollar Sony headphones. Picked them up and BAM. They're just as good as the Buds that came with the fucking iPod. And now, I won't be scared to take them places. THEY'RE 10 BUCKS! Who cares. I'll have them for MONTHS, and then I'll replace them with the same fucking set. Plus, the came with one of those little cases they go into and store.

Moral of the story? Sure, I'm not getting top of the line sound, but it's good enough to take out everyday in the different weather. When they break, I won't be heart broken, and Wal Mart is always open.

Thank you.
