View Full Version : I just got back from the Sting concert...

He played at Jones Beach tonight. I had upper level seats and it was FUCKING COLD OUT THERE JACK! Now that I have that over with....The show was AWSOME! I have seen Sting perform about 7 or 8 times before this. His shows was getting redundant with his musical selection so i have not seen him in a few years. This time he just played alot of old hits from his days with the Police. So I, of course, was in heaven. His 1st 5 songs were Message in a Bottle, Demolition man, SyncronicityII, Spirits in the Material World and Driven to Tears. All classics. I was surprised about how most of his set were Police songs. He did play some of his solo stuff. But when he announced after his 1st songs were played that he would be playing things he has not done in years I knew I was not in for another run-of-the-mill Sting concert.Not too long of a set, only about 100 mins. He did comment on how cold it was, also made fun of how people from Long Island pronounce Long Island. (Laang Ahhland)He also did two songs, one from  Johnny Cash "I hung my head" (which he did a good job on) and The Beatles "A day in the life".I was glad I went, just wished it was a few degrees warmer. Oh yea...and it was a bitch to get to. I had never been to Jones Beach before. I would love to see a day concert from there overlooking the ocean. I bet that looks great,

I'd put on a good show if my horse just won at 50-1, too! Glad you had a good time. I bet he's good in concert.

I was a big Police fan. I would have seen Sting.With some Polar tech. I remember that venue. Jones Beach is a pretty cool place to see a show. The sound is lousy,
the seats suck, but you're watching an artist you like and you're at
the beach. So you really cant miss.

That's awesome Justice. I've seen him play at Jones Beach, his shows there are great. I had read that on this tour he's reviving a bunch of Police songs, b-sides etc to play which I think is really great. The last time I saw him he did about four Police songs which really brought the crowd alive.

Yes I actually controlled myself when he played all of his stuff and sung it to myself. The guy behind me was THAT guy. And he was about 15 years my senior.

This reminds me, I walked right by Sting a few days ago in Boston, on Charles Street. He was coming out of some antique store with some other big dude, both with sunglasses and expensive clothes, and I was like "Woah, these guys look like rock stars." Then I got closer and when he was like 2 feet from me, I realized "Oh shit, that's Sting."

He also did two songs, one from  Johnny Cash "I hung my head" (which he did a good job on) and The Beatles "A day in the life"."I hung my head" is a Sting song off of Mercury Falling, Johnny Cash covered the Song on his last album.  I have seen Sting twice both were phenominal shows, I wished I would have seen him on the Bring on the night tour those looked like incredible shows.

Did he do that Desert Rose song?  I love that song, but I can see how pulling it off live might be a pain in the ass, unless the singer and violin are just taped parts.
