<p>Now I'm not one for messing with original albums. I do want to preserve the artist's original vision, so please don't take this as me wanting to change the sound of a CD. I really HATE how some bands just reissue old albums with 2 new shit studio tracks and expect you to buy the album all over again. Fuck you bro. I got your old one, and if those 2 songs were that great, they'd be CD tracks, not left overs. </p><p>But there are some really good albums out there that I think may just suffer from poor production. </p><p>My vote? <font size="3"><u>THE REAL THING</u> by "Faith No More."</font> What a GREAT album. Awesome musicianship. Some crazy shit, some fast shit, some slow shit. Radio hits and hidden album gems. Undewater Love is one of the best among the hidden treasures in my mind.</p><p>JESUS! EDIT! My fucking POINT was that its such a great album, but what a low, thin production. Only really good headphones and systems can help it out.</p><p>So, any others, or is my thread idea ghey?</p><p><img src="http://unhallowed.com/sigs/NewToolsSuckAss.jpg" border="0" /> </p><p><a href="http://www.unhallowed.com/">www.unhallowed.com</a> <a href="http://thebigsexxxy.blogspot.com/">One Big SeXXXy Blog</a></p>

Most albums produced in the 80's could use "tweeking." Everything sounds too thin and sythensized from that era...

<p>I am not sure if "Sticky Fingers" has been remastered, but I just read tonight that Can't you hear me knocking was originally 25 minutes long. I would love to hear Mick Taylor and the rest of the band keep jamming. Sticky Fingers is probably one of my favorite Stones albums.</p><p> </p>

Try to find the originals done by EPIC. The album covers are smaller with OZZY written around them. They sound great, but are out of print. The second time around they were done by OZZY & Sharon, and they had drums and bass RE-recorded (Blizzard & Diary) by his current drummer and bassist (the guy from Faith no More and Rob T. , who's now in Metallica.) <p> </p><p>EAT 'EM AND SMILE by David Lee Roth. Very thin and hissy. </p><p>AND JUSTICE FOR ALL by Metallica was mixed, for some reason, with ZERO low end. No punch.</p><p>OUT OF THE SILENT PLANET and GRETCHEN by KingsX. Great production that needs a boost.</p><p>Alot of Prince records lack any real low-end.</p><p> </p><p>Music that was originally recorded and mixed in the 80ies hasn't really aged well. The 70ies and the 90ies sound better to me. Fuller and more organic.</p><p>That whole "Let's Hear It For The Boy" phase of production is unlistenable.</p><p> </p>

What a GREAT album. Awesome musicianship. Some crazy shit, some fast
shit, some slow shit. Radio hits and hidden album gems. Undewater
Love is one of the best among the hidden treasures in my mind.</font> </p><p>You
know what? I always thought that album was perfect in every aspect. As
a matter of fact, I am pulling it out today cause I haven't listened to
it in so long. Maybe you're right.</p><p>So many albums just seem to get remastered to get more money and get a bit of a resurgence for the band(s) or label(s) involved.</p><p>I
loved when Combat Records and Roadrunner Records remastered some of
their classics cause they just needed. Slowly We Rot and Scream Bloody
Gore just sounded so fresh. Even though I still like to pull out the
originals of those albums and just relive my first taste of them more
than 15 years ago.</p><p>But the one album I would just like to hear
reMIXed and remastered would have to be ...And Justice For All. The
bass was always so underneath everything and when I would try and get
more bass while listening it was just too annoying to listen too. I
always thought of that album as Metallica's swan song and especially
how money grubbing Lars & Co. can be you would think they would
have remastered them already. Oh well, I can wish.</p><p> AND...on
the topic of remastering and CD sound, can anyone explain to me the
difference between the old CD sound styles of AAD, DDD,and ADD? I think thats what those were. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

Come to think of it, isn't Sharon holding up the Domestic remasters of
the Black Sabbath catalog? From what I recall she is. The Import
Remasters are great. Really nice to have the Dio years remastered
finally.<br />

Im a big fan of the Ravonettes and they are amazing live but the
production on their first album is shit. I wish they could take off
some of the feedback and tweak it a bit. Also alot of old Nick Drake
records.<br />
