Yeah lets believe what he says. Look at the facts 3 of the countries that wanted us out of Iraq - France, Germany and Russia all have been linked to taking money from Saddam shock beyond shock. But we are to believe that this guy is innocent even though he all but sucked Saddam off at a Manchester U match. Maybe we should leave it to the trusty UN and Kofi Annan to solve this problem

Because when he got weapons it was viewed as the lesser of two evils in the stand-off with Iran. Not to mention there were NO COUNT THEM ZERO UN SANCTIONS against Iraq at the time. However, taking illegal oil vouchers for money to give favor against a country under sanctions is illegal, surely even a dumbocrat like you can see that.

And it isn't any less horrible. That's a lot of people.
So let me get this straight

22,000 to 25,000 civilians dead - how many killed by our troops? How many killed by terrorists or insurgents?

And lets look a little more at the numbers:

25,000 dead civilians compared with the 80,000 bodies that have been uncovered in mass graves or the double of that amount that just disappeared under Saddams rule.

So 25,000 to liberate or 240,000 dead/missing under a rutheless dictator i wonder which one the Iraqi people prefer. Or the fact that Saddam you know chemically attacked his own people because thats ok.

Not.

Why.

We.

Went.

To.

War.

How many times does this need to be said? The objective changed constantly, and was never consistent. There's no continuity, because we haven't applied this standard of "justice" ANYWHERE else in the world. We gambled on finding WMD's and lost, and now the losers want to change the scenario after they got embarassed on a global.

And civilians are being killed at a faster rate now then they ever were under Saddam, so we'll pass his total in no time. Yeah, at this point, most of those casualties are coming from the terrorist attacks...but those only are happening BECAUSE we're there and our leaders had no cohesive plan for post-war Iraq. So how is that a better alternative? How did we "win?" How is life better for the Iraqi people? How is the world any safer from ANYTHING? What was won?!?

And Saddam chemically attacked his people with means given to him by...ahhh, what's the point anymore?
1979 << On the streets of your town... >> "You can tell some lies about the good times we've had, but I've kissed your mother twice...and now I'm working on your dad..."

Actually it wasn't all about WMD it was the fact that Iraq ignored UN Security Council resolutions

Oh like the Range of the Iraqi Al Samooud Missile that exceeded the range put on it by the UN by 350 miles, a range that would allow Iraq to strike Isreal and the missiles were tipped with warheads capable of carrying WMD. So let me see they ignored that. They ignored inspectors. How much longer could it go on. And to say the people of Iraq aren't better off is ludicrous the fact is without Saddamm foreign news reports everything up, do you think Saddamm would allow the publication of people the gov't kidnapped and killed?

Take off the Blue tinted glasses and look at the situation realistically

No shit...I already copped the guy was a nut at the start of the thread...but that doesn't make what he said when he was called before Congress wrong. Outside of the casuality figure, the man served them.

And has the level of public dissent in this country really dropped to the level of just giving up? How many things can this administration get away with?!? Now THAT'S the real pussification of America...

1979 << On the streets of your town... >> "You can tell some lies about the good times we've had, but I've kissed your mother twice...and now I'm working on your dad..."

quote:

Kicking it old school on the board again

In February 2003, U.N. inspectors evaluated two versions of the Al Samoud 2 missile using four separate computer models. Both versions were found to exceed the range limit of 150 kilometers (93 miles) set by the U.N. Security Council. The lighter version of the Al Samoud 2 was estimated to have a range of 193 kilometers, while the heavier version would be capable of a 162 km range. Accordingly, it was requested that all Al Samoud 2 missiles and warheads be delivered to the inspectors for destruction.

http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/world/iraq/samoud.htm

Inspectors had destroyed most of these missiles at the time the US launched this war.

Seriously, do your homework if you're going to rant and rave about this shit. I do.

And give me the stats on how many countries are currently in violation of UN sanctions - including the US. You know you don't care about UN sanctions. You're only giving that horseshit because there were no weapons of mass destruction. If you want to make the case that they existed, then you can site the US weapons inspection report - or, give it a rest. Basically, sight some sort of source. Just once would be a start.

As for your "Supporting Iraq was the lesser of two evils when it was at war with Iran" horseshit:

Were the Kurds the greater of two evils at that time? Because the first Bush administration chose to aid Saddam AFTER he was gassing the Kurds - his own people! Where do the Kurds fit in on your evil-ometer? Now, or then? I'm sick of you so-called freedom fighters and lovers of Iraqi people pretending to give two shits about these people - when it's just a ruse to suck up to your ideological leader! Have any of you fuckers ever met these people? Kurds? Iraqis? Iranians? You're the same fuckers that make the glib generalizations about "those people" whenever one, or some of them do something we don't like! You're not fooling anyone. Shut the fuck up. The Iraqi people are not your political tool.

finding WMDs in Iraq aint as easy as just looking in a few missile silos. theres alot of desert where saddam could have had them buried.

I know that the fact that no WMDs were found can't be disputed, but I just want to ask people why they think Saddam would just stop making them, or destroy them on his own? He was fucking insane, and I don't think anyone will dispute that on either side of this. He was also very good at the art of delaying inspectors.

Do you think the world over estimated how much he had? Do you think he actually destroyed them? Did the inspectors do enough to diminish his supply while they were allowed in?
