I was just outside getting lunch and who should I see but "Lost" star
Daniel Dae Kim walking past me. It took me a moment to recogize
who he was, but it was damn cool.

A couple of weeks ago, my sister went out to run some errands during her lunch hour (she works in greenwich) and saw Anthony Keidis. She felt weird about approaching him, but she said he kept making eye contact and was taking his time getting to his car, probably wanting her to approach him.

Years ago, I used to work in a women's clothing store in Chelsea (about a stone's throw from the original Barneys). Famous people came into the shop all the time.

Paulina Porizkova came in. She had the neatest vintage bike from the 50s. She was really nice.

Kyle MacLaughlin came in with his girlfriend. He's got a lot of grey hair in real life.

I sold a sports bra to Suzanne Vega. I know her bra size. She's very unassuming.

The one celebrity sighting that tops my list is Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson. I sold Laurie Anderson a pair of gym shorts. Lou said he'd "be outside grabbing a smoke."

My co-worker used to go ga ga over all the soap stars who'd come in. I had no idea who they were.

I was driving in Locust Valley a few years ago and leaned over to grab a tape that had fallen between the seat as I drove, and I veered slightly towards the car next to me in the other lane and the guy starts laying on the horn and I look over at him and its John McEnroe and he was giving me the finger! I look at him as if to say "Im sorry" at the same instant realised who he was and the very next instant saw that he recognized that I recognized who HE was and he took off like a bat out of hell.

Back in the mid 90's we had the Debbie Davies Band playing in my bar where I worked. Dan Akroyd was in town filming My Fellow Americans. He asked Davies (very politely, I might add) if she would mind him playing some harp w/ the band. He played several songs, then led everyone in the bar in a Rumba line. He bought many beers for people and was a very nice guy.

I used to work as a driver for a shipping company (kind of like FedEx), picking and and delivering packages from peoples homes and business' and I was going to this guys house in a ritzy part of Manahasset for a year and always talking to him as he handed me the stuff he was shipping out. When Christmas came, he gave me a huge tip and thanked me for never making a big deal about who he was. Until he said that, it never occured to me that he might be famous. So I asked some guys where I worked if they ever heard of his name and they flipped out.

It turns out he was shipping autographed footballs for a charity he was involved in and despite the fact that the packeges were football shaped and he even came to the door once in a Jets jersey, I never made the connection. He was a very nice guy.
