Im not really following this story, but I DO think that Michael Jackson is a pediphile and bizzare and that he should be punished. If famous people keep "getting away with it", what does it say about us as a society? I dont want to hear about a lawyer being a "success" because he gets his clients off; in good vs evil, the evil should not be the winners. Personally, I hope he gets locked up and some other prisoner porks him up the ass.

I'd just like to say that although I think Jacko did it, and I'll make Mike touching little kids jokes all day, we are all innocent until proven guilty.

Everytime I hear about public opinion, I start to think about if I were accused of something falsely. I would want a fair trial. The way I look and the music I play, a lawyer could make people think I was a scumbag easily. So I try to keep that in mind everytime I want to think someone is guilty or not. Were not in the jury, we don't know all the facts.

But again, Michael did it.

The thing that bothers me is, its kind of like OJ, where we all "know" he did it and I cant for the life of me see why the jury had any doubt. Does it simply come down to a lawyer just saying that the evidence does not merit a guilty verdict and you buy it? I know your not suppose to go into it with any previous opinion and take what is presented to you as objectively as possible, but at the same time, when you realise that your about to let a guy walk who is very likely a pedaphile or a murderer, wouldnt it bother you? Sometimes I wonder, what does it take? Why is anyone ever convicted of anything?

How can anyone get an opinion about anything then? No one can ever know all the facts about everything. Things we feel strongly about and talk about and cast judgements upon are always purely specular. Court cases included. Sometimes especially. Its my opinion that he did something wrong, and because of his wealth and celebrity, he will likely walk. I say thats bullshit and the only think I or any of us can do is say what we feel, because clearly the judicial system will always let the famous walk. Look at Robert Blake. The guy said he couldnt have shot his wife because he was back at the resturant to retrieve a misplaced gun! He used a gun as an alibi for a shooting! He walked because of his celebrity and stupid jurors. Anyone (reasonable) can see there is something seriously wrong with Michael Jackson's thought processes. Would any of you allow your child to spend a night in his bed? I understand that we have to be considerate of the innocent until they are proven guilty, but there is a major inconsistancy in the practice of that idea. In everyday life, judgements are always cast without the benifit of the presentation of all the facts. How many of us have been judged by others and we have no recourse? Famous people seem to live outside the rules that apply to the rest of us, and it pisses me off.

So I cant have an opinion on something and state it? I did say I thought he is, and since I am not in a position to judge him, it is all I have to go on in order to make a statement or discussion topic. My feelings on his guilt or innocence have no bearing on anything anyway. I am not "tossing it around" so much as expressing my opinion with the only word that describes that behavior. The point Im trying to make is, the rich/famous/celebrities get a pass when the rest of us dont. Just today (or maybe yesterday) Oliver Stone was caught driving under the influence and it was reported they found drugs on him as well. Will he, because of who his is, get away with it. Id would have to say so, given how they get away with everything. Jeff, you made a thread about your anger at DWI violators not long ago, am I remis to say that Oliver Stone is a danger to people on the road? Can I call him a "drunk driver" without all the facts?

sr71 couch it in phrases like "tendencies of" or "characteristics of". Then you can call him a kid-toucher without calling him a kid-toucher. As someone who has followed the case let me say that your opinion would probably not have changed. Mine didn't. He exhibits the tendencies of a freak that likes to diddle little boys.

I've followed this case from the beginning. I believe he is guilty of this and will continue to do this to other children. With that said, I believe he will be found innocent because the prosecutors will have not been able to produce enough evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

With the information that I have been given so far, I feel he is guilty. He hasn't proved reasonable doubt to me yet. I need the information that the jurors have to form a better opinion, however the data I have as of now points to him being very irresponsible and possibly addicted to children. I hear he is opening up a Neverland in Africa. DOESN'T THAT PUT UP A RED FLAG??? There is alot of poverty, young starving boys, and a government that will look the other way.
I think the point that Sr71 was making that alot of people are missing is that if you are famous you do get more of a benefit its simply the million dollar rule - make a million commit a crime no penalty:

1. O.J. Simpson

2. Jayson Williams

3. Robert Blake

4. Kobe Bryant

Now were all of there guys guilty probably but none convicted of anything serious why because they are stars plain and simple. Hell Jamal Lewis admitted to setting up a coke deal and got 4 months and some time in a half way house. Meanwhile board member Papa bear gets 3 years for 2 grams of coke where is the parity?

Robert Blake may be rich from movies and series in the past, but he sure as hell wasn't a Hollywood player anymore. The man had no power. The case against him was flimsy. His dead wife was a tramp with many enemies and the physical evidence was weak at best.

And cmon, you followed the Kobe case, didn't you? He's a basketball player with millions of dollars. She wanted his cash, she fucked him, she probably extorted him for money, he refused, she got him arrested. It's an age old story. You gotta ask yoruself, yes, they have millions of dollars, but does that make them guilty? Look at the accusers too...mo' money mo' problems.

As for OJ, the evidence, while compelling, didn't add up in a court of law, but it did add up in a civil case, of which the victims families won. As punishment for defending a murderer, Johnnie Cochran had a heart attack and died at an early age. Good. That's the one case I'll agree with you on.

Jeff you forgot Jayson Williams who basically shot a man in the chest with a shotgun, tampered with evidence and still got a weapons violation (a fine and probation) nothing else.

Now whether or not Robert Blakes wife is a tramp and Kobe makes millions is irrelevant the perception is that if you are famous you can get away with a crime.

Nate Newton i believe got pulled over with 400 pounds of weed and then like 380 the next week, he spent 1 year in jail thats it. Now how many joe schmoes with 700 odd pounds of dope would get that. Or Robert Downey Jr. who repeatedly breaks probation and those are just 2 more of the top of my head.

As for all of those cases I believe the reality is that either prosecutors in California namely LA are just awful or the LAPD just do not know how to collect nor handle critical evidence. It's just unreal how many embarassing cases they have blown.

In case any of you are wondering, or who suffer from back pain as a result of stress and anxiety, see this link regarding Michael Jackson

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050606/ap_on_en_mu/michael_jackson_hospital

What it means is, he is aware that his life could very easily unravel as a result of the trial and the jury deliberating his fate. Whats likely happeneing is that he is so scared of what could result from it that his body is attempting to "escape" from this situation. Peoples backs bother them (or their stomachs) when they are overwhelmed with anxiety and stress. I am not saying this to tease Michael Jackson, just trying to illustrate humna behavior and hopefully, help someone who is suffering but hasnt yet made this connection.. Since I realised this (as a result of reading that Dr John Sarno book), my life has been turned completely around. Its very interesting.
