Im wondering if anyone knows of a disease which has symptoms of painful connective tissue (ligaments, joints, etc)?
Before anyone tells me to go see a Dr., please know that I like to gather my own info first. I have been having pains in my shoulders for over a year and now, after I dislocated one of my shoulders, and my Dr sent me to an orthopedist who gave me a shot of cortizone. But my knees and hips are bothering me. It feels like the joints are going to come out of their sockets and it hurts like hell.

*I'll take any info I will see here with a grain of salt*

Im looking at a site that has info on Fibromyalgia, and it does seem to have some of the same symptoms, but only about a quarter of them..

Symptoms of fatigue may result from the individual's chronic pain coupled with anxiety about the problem and how to find relief. The inflammatory process also produces chemicals that are known to cause fatigue. Other common symptoms are tension headaches, difficulty swallowing, recurrent abdominal pain, diarrhea, and numbness or tingling of the extremities. Stress, anxiety, depression, or lack of sleep can increase symptoms. Intensity of symptoms is variable ranging from gradual improvement to episodes of recurrent symptoms.

I dont have the headaches, difficulty swallowing, abdominal pain and the amount of time sleeping doesnt seem to effect it. I do get diarrhea and tingling fingers occasionally and anxiety though.

JUST GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!

I know you like to research your illness beforehand, but it makes more sense to do so BEFORE a second opinion.

Alice

make sure that you get all the tests for Lyme disease as there are different types, not just the blood test ones, you you might have to get a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) they arent bad, I had 2. There are a lot of autoimmune diseases that have very similar symptoms. I went thru the past 8 months having each and everyone checked out for. At least thats what it seemed like.

find a good rheumatologist in your area, they specialize in lyme, arthritis, sojrens syndrome, fibromyalgia, ALS all joint aflicted stuff. dont woory, beleive it or not it could be the waether, my physical therapist explained to me the physiological changes in the body's joints and muscle groups when the barometric presure changes.

good luck nd I recommend this website message board to read....there is alot of good info on joint pain, not just brain stuff...good luck

http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/ see u there

Staples

I tore my ACL recently and now whenever it rains or gets damp my knee aches like an SOB could be the same thing, just getting old and arthritis

Especially if you played alot of sports when you were younger. I am 29 and when they did my surgery the doctor saw extensive signs of arthritis in my knee

I went to the Dr and he gave me a prescription to have X rays done of both knees, both hips and my right shoulder. Plus, he gave me another one for a blood workup for arthritis, lyme disease and other stuff. I went yesterday for the X rays and this morning for the blood work. My father had given me a few of his pain pills called Ultracet, that seemed to work very well, and I asked him about it and he gave me a presciption. I also complianed to him about bleeding 'roids and he gave me a referral to a proctoligist. Im falling apart! I was feeling good this afternoon and decided to walk today and am in agony now! See, I can walk find, and for a long time, but afterward, it KILLS after I relax. So I took the Ultracet and Im feeling a little better now.
I hope I dont sound like a whiner, its just that this is really bugging me, and I wantedb to compare experience. Snoogs, I also asked him about the arthritis and he will let me know after he looks at the results of the blood work and X rays. Thanks.
