View Full Version : Manual or Automatic?

Since I learned how to drive I've driven a stick shift and can't imagine driving a sluggish automatic. What I really don't get is people who buy sports cars that are automatics. How do you get into driving without shifting your own gears? I know manual transmissions aren't any fun if you drive in a lot of stop-and-go traffic, and I can understand driving an automatic in that case. I just don't see how an automatic can be as FUN as driving a manual. But then again, I've never test drove a 300hp mustang automatic.
Which do you prefer, and why?

I prefer automatic because I am lazy.

However, if you told me that the auto companies were only going to make standard transmissions in order to prevent assholes from using their hands to talk on phones I would shout with joy.

Manual.
Better in the snow.
You can do more with a smaller engine.
Cooler.
Generally cheaper.
More control.
More manly.
Downshifting.
