I currently have a cell phone with Verizon. I need to save some money. I want to find a cheaper alternative to having a contract and having to pay $35 a month for a phone I only want for an emergency while I'm driving.

Any suggestions?

I dealt with this issue w/ my mother. If it's truely only for emergencies, the best way to go is with a pre-pay. The only problem with most of them, is you really have to watch out for how often you have to buy new minutes. They expire if you don't use them, but there insentives for buying minutes in certain ways.. If you don't get a good answer to your problem in the next 24 hours, I'll get all the details from my mother's plan and fill you in.

I don't use my cell that often, maybe a couple minutes a day. So I use Tracfone prepaid wireless.
