I love the movie Reservior Dogs, but I just can't watch the cop torture scene with Mr Blonde. Something about that music playing loud and the tied-up cop screaming really strikes a disturbing chord. Another scene that really bothered me was in the Holocaust movie "The Grey Zone" where David Arquette is stomping a prisoner to death in front of a crowd while the prisoner's wife stands there, watching and screaming. Argghh. I can hardly stand remembering it.
Are there certain movie scenes that stand out to you as being the most disturbing?

There are many, but the first one that came to my mind was the "head in vice" scene from Casino.

I just thought of another: Henry: Portrait of a serial killer when he's videotaping the raping & killing of a wife and husband and their teenage son walks in and tries to scramble away but then gets stabbed to death himself. I think the worst thing about this one was it looked so REAL with the fuzzy videotaped look.

There is a rape scene in a movie called IRREVERSIBLE that is almost unwatchable.

The movie (which is in French with English Subtitles) is shown in reverse. The opening scene is the End Credits and the story works backwards from there. It sounded pretty interesting so, I checked it out.

The rape scene is GRUESOME. Later in the movie (or is it earlier??) the victims boyfriend goes on a murderous rampage after seeing what happened to his girlfriend. He delivers a SAVAGE beating to a guy in a bar. But, that brutal beat down is childs play compared to that rape scene.

I just thought of a big one for me. In Once Upon a Time in America...

I was completely enamored of Elizabeth McGovern in that movie. But the first few times I saw it, I had to turn it off during the scene where Dinero raped her in the car. I just couldn't handle it.

The Reservior Dogs scene is one of my favorite movie scenes ever, and yet so disturbing to me at the same time.

Another
disturbing scene I remember watching was in a movie called "Vulgar".
It's a movie done under Kevin Smith's View Askew label and it has Dante
from "Clerks" starring in the lead role. Anyway, in one scene he gets
raped, and though I've only seen the movie once, I remember being so
disturbed by it. It was a feeling I hardly ever get.

As
I'm typing this I'm watching Kill Bill Vol. 2, it's not such a gross
scene as it is disturbing, but the part's on where Uma's character gets
buried alive by Bill's brother. Everytime I see that scene I gets the
chills thinking about what it would be like to be buried alive, that
also disturbs me slightly.

One scene that really got to me was in the movie TRAINING DAY.

Ethan Hawke is in an apartment with Denzel. The apartment is definitely on "enemy soil". Denzel walks down the hall to use the bathroom and after a few minutes, He realizes that he's been set up. He's alone. He's all alone with about 5 muscle head gangbangers who are all armed and hate his f'cking guts.

What makes the scene so intense is that, for the first 5 or 6 mintes, the gangers are PRETENDING to be soooo cordial and nice. Ethan knows they are going to kill him but, he can't act react to that yet. For now, he has to play it cool.

The famous "Sicilian Interrogation" scene in TRUE ROMANCE has a similar vibe. Dennis Hopper really nailed it. Dying on the inside...playin' it cool on the outside.

Ugh!

Maybe the MOST disturbing scene, however, is the end of "Pink Flamingos" when - for no real reason - John Waters makes Divine follow a dog around until it craps, and "she" then eats the fresh turd. The "chicken fucking" and "singing asshole" scenes also are pretty disturbing.

Maybe the MOST disturbing movie ever made is a brutal 1987 foreign film called "Men Behind The Sun" which follows the Japanese in WW2 using the Chinese as guinea pigs in experiments at a "medical camp" to develop deadly bacterial-plagues. Men, women and children (and animals) are showed being torturned and murdered in ways that have never been duplicated in Western cinema. Disturbing for the gore and inhumanity shown, disturbing because it is supposedly based on real life events and especially disturbing because some scenes supposedly used real corpses and others used real (living) animals. Not a movie you would ever need to watch more than once, if ever at all.

Christ, I just saw this movie and it was so brutal I am still shaking. Now I wish I
never watched it. It's one of those that you'll never forget. Deeply disturbing. I
gotta go read some funny threads to get my mind off it.
You know how Ron talks about showing Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs to his kids when they were really young? I sort of have the same thing. I mostly laughed during both those movies, True Romance, The Shining, Requiem (which I'll watch anytime), and I barely blinked an eye during I Spit on Your Grave. So it takes a lot to shake me.
For some reason I have a tooth thing. There's a b-movie called "The Dentist" starring Corbin Bernsen I cannot watch because it involves lots of doing damage to people's mouths that I cannot take at all. I also can't take watching that scene from "Marathon Man" for the same reason.
There's also this stupid movie that I bet nobody has heard of called "Runaway" with Tom Selleck, Kirstie Alley and Gene Simmons that always freaks me out for some reason.
