Just a speculative question, but do you think this might be something they did to try to keep Ron and Fez or maybe it's part of a contact?  Or would they not do something like that for a show?

It's about time!My wife works on a Radio station here in Toronto.  The "powers that be" didn't want to stream the show because "nobody wants to listen to the radio unless they're in their car".  After some arguing, they agreed to Podcast The Morning Show and make it available for download.  They got 3000 downloads on the first day alone!Needless to say, the management team had to go back to the boardroom and rethink that whole nobody-listens-to-radio-on-their-computer thing. If RnF are included in the stream, that will really help the show to expand.  More listeners, more callers, and more IM's.....and some of them will be funny!

Well, the talk of Don and Mike getting streamed came out about a month ago. IF R&F were convinced to stay at WJFK, I would imagine this could have been part of the package. And with the Junkies contract coming up, it was also more than likely a good thing to make them happy too with this, although most of their fans are still in the area.Still - this has to help people who have moved away, for all of these shows (I can finally move to Cancun with a clean conscious!). If they are staying, and if they are part of program reshuffling once Howie leaves, this will help people like me who can't listen through the radio at work.THIS is a really great first step - next Infinity needs to start letting their shows be heard also on sat radio too. quote:  .....and some of them will be funny!    And some of them won't.<img src="http://www.ronfez.net/messageboard/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/wink.gif" border="0" />

That is so great to hear. A few months back I remember a bunch of
Infinity News stations started to stream online and this is what I
believe may be the second wave of Infinity stations to do so. The
sports station, WIP here in Philly is starting on Monday next week and
I believe WFAN is too. Pretty exciting. Maybe one of the radio
insider tech geeks could let me know but is there such a thing like a
portable unit that would let me receive Live Web Streams in my car?

 We have a BBQ listener that listens wherever he
goes. He has a Treo Cell Phone/PDA and uses Sprint PCS's unlimited
usage to tune in. Hooks into his car stereo and listens wherever he
goes. By late 2005 and into 2006 you will begin to see many new devices
letting you listen to internet radio feeds in your car, and wherever.
The cool thing about it is whether RNF go to Satradio or stay at JFK
these new devices should allow you to hear them wherever you go as long
as they go somewhere that streams. Hopefully we will all be able to
listen to commercial, Satradio, and internet radio using one device,

have a Treo 600 with Sprint and the ulimited vision plan.  Long
sotry short I listen to WJFK online with my phone.  So it can be
done.  I think actually there may be an internet radio car device
thingy but it only works with WiFi so i must crap out all the
time.  My phone however can play the entire show in my car. 
It freaks people out because they don't realize its my phone so they
assume my car is somehow picking up DC radio in NYC.

run commercials, or PSAs - "Real Radio" out of Orlando, where the

On the WJFK homepage there is a banner announcing online streaming.  Next to the anouncment are pics of the Junks, DnM, and the RF cartoon.  Very cool.  I will no longer have to worry about the Infinity Police breaking down my door, taking a sledgehammer to my computer, and killing my dog.  Oh yeah, I've see them do it.  Kids, don't stream illeagaly.

If you try to listen now, you get a list of other stations that are
streamed.  1010 wins is one of them.  I just find it humorous
that somone would want to listen to an AM station over the internet. I guess some people like their traffic on the 1's.

WJFK flipped the switch today at 5pm and is officially
streaming....I don't know if it will continue after Don and Mike, but
it might be worth it to check it out at 8pm.

One thing that has been nagging at me since the announcement. Did management use the streaming angle as a bone to throw at the boys, just to keep them at JFK?I personally HATE listening on the computer.

I just registered for the feed but there is not a wjfk link yet.    It seems like they only have news radio links from across the country  WCBS NY, 1010 Wins Ny, etc. Lets see at 8pm what happens. I just noticed on the website that only the Junkies, Don and Mike, and Ron and Fez have the little speaker by their names so they must be the only shows that will be on the feed.   Sorry Perry no soccer show for you.  <img src="http://www.richstillwell.com/Jafter.jpg" border="0" />

Go to WJFK website and click listen live. It didn't work for me in
firefox so maybe you need to use Internet Explorer, It's working fine
for me.

I registered this afternoon, and I came back just
now and clicked the link on the main page. Now I have a window open for
WJFK, and it played a WJFK sweeper followed by silence. I guess it will
kick in at 8:00pm. The player says playing, but there is only silence. Is anyone else getting teh show yet?

Since the stream is brand new, this is par for the course. Just be aware - the stream will probably have a SHITLOAD of PSAs on it, and you'll be hearing the same PSA's over and over and over again.

Is there some kind of trick to making this thing work? I updated
Windows and the Windows Media Player and I have The Windows ME Edition
which it says is compatible and still nothing. Do I need to be running
this through IE? My IE is disabled. Run it through Mozilla Firefox

i wonder if RADIOMAT.COM the site that is streaming the show is having
to catch up with itself. as of 8am this morning WJFK wasn't even
listed. now they have them plus six other new channels.

if you are a winamp lover, download this winamp plugin, install it,
and paste the direct url into winamp and you will be able to listen in
winamp instead of windows media player or the wjfk player. after it
loads up you can bookmark it.

anyone else notice the new email notifications that come out over

has a stream capturing program that adds an index after you stop recording so you can fast
forward/rewind (but not before that). now, if
i can just find yesterday's show... my underground hookup had a
computer crash!
1 hour 15 minutes to go, and don and mike just dumped out a caller

Holy CRAP!Over dial up this feed is amazing. I bet it's even
better than some places in Maryland, just over the air, where WJFK's
fucked up signal drops out.*****Don

prophet who talks with aliens. THe nut then said that there was another
prophet in Washington, and Don asked if the guys name was "Ron
Bennington." *****They aren't running commercials on
the feed but public service announcements - same as the internet feed
in Orlando for The Hideout on "RealRadio"

The good news is, the WJFK stream will probably not be 5 minutes behind the live broadcast (like my Stern/Loveline streams are).  This means more peeps can interact with the show in real-time.I really think this will be an asset to the RnF show.  Not that it needed any help but still....more funny is more funny.

I timed it.  The JFK stream - the official one - is 2.5 minutes behind what you hear on the phone, and the phone is live-live.I'm not sure how much dump time is installed, but during the WNEW days before Janet Jackson, it was between 45-90 seconds.  Can someone who is in DC give us an official latency time, between what you hear on-the-air and what you hear on the stream?

This thread is hysterical, because a friend of mine was in a meeting, and he was told: "We need as many PSAs as we possibly get.  If we re-run the same PSAs every break, people are gonna get really pissed."The weird thing is, I know who voices the Daddy PSA - it's Tom Selleck.

BTW:Just in case you are wondering why you are hearing so many PSAs, it's an AFTRA thing.  AFTRA wants additional fees if their commercials go out on the stream, so the server in the studio switches to the PSAs as soon as they go into a spot set.You're not missing much.  Just Don and Mike talking in funny voices about Tower Records and O'Reilly telling you it's important to get your oil changed.Sadly, no mention of vinyl siding from Bill Ray.

For some reason I still couldn't get in through the WJFK site but
the backdoor worked and DAMN is it nice to be able to listen again. Now
I fear the wiseass poking fun at me but I feel all smart figuring how I
could type in any of the Streaming stations call letters and numbers in
the same sequence as the WJFK address and could get those to work too.
I feel so smert. Sort of.

For those wondering about the delay, when you listen on regular radio the delay is right around 2 minutes, so the internet feed isn't adding much. It's too bad it's "post dump". When you listen to the Hideout, you get to hear everything.

made in a sweatshop, which made me so guilty that I couldn't sleep, but
then got a chick pregenant, but because I'm not optimistic enough the
baby was born premature and deformed and then I was so sickened that I
abandoned the kid but then I came back, but I turned into an alcoholic
and made everyone miserable, and then I passed gas but that didn't mean
I farted, but I smoked and gave everyone lung cancer and we all
died..

I know this question was asked already, but being of questionable intelligence I didn't understand the answer. Can someone explain if listening to the show on the JFK stream is the same thing as listening on the radio? In other words, if someone is listening to the show at 8:15 in their car, would someone listening on this stream be hearing the same thing at 8:15?  And also- what is the 800 number to call in?? Fez says it too fast for me dumb ears!!!!

My recommendation is two fold - 1) Start a letter writing campaign to Cameron about getting different, upbeat PSAs added to the stream.2) Start writing letters to different charities and organizations about sending their PSAs to the person who is incharge of the streat at WJFK.Off the top of my head, these are some organizations that are NOT featured on the WJFK stream.1) American Cancer Society2) March of Dimes4) Cystic Fibrosis Foundation5) Big Brother/Big Sister of America6) The Ad Council7) Rock the Vote8) Rockers Against Drunk Driving

What's the difference between having PSAs or the regular commercials during the breaks? I wouldn't pay attention to either one...We should all be complaining about the long breaks, The Hideout does their show during the same hours and have less ad time.

Not that this will be a big issue, since it hasn't been for R&F except for that day that ended up getting them suspended:Is the Feed a pre-dump thing? The Hideout feed doesn't get affected by the dump button, so when a caller drops a bomb, online people can hear it. That dump button doesn't do much good for them those times they use it because some information/name is said when it shouldn't be...

Whitman and Curtis + Kuby. And I get on all the time. Im
eant more so that i would sound like a complete buffoon on the air. I
am a better contributor artistically than I am verbally. Even times
when I would be down in the DC/Baltimore area or hell, even in studio
with them, I could never think of what to say and would just be a tumor.No biggie though. I have just always had this nervous thing when going on the air anywhere due to my stuttering problem.

Everyone seemed to be able to work within the 80 second delay, and I'm sure the same with this too.It was great hearing all of the contributions from the "people listening to the stream."

Not to mention, it's just another way for the fat fucks in management to not have to dish out money for a photo shoot.  Real pic, real pic, oh wait, a cartoon?!  Slap some make up on our Buddays, make 'em look all purdy and get some decent shots of them.Instead of spending the money on that photo shoot, Cameron got a free night of Vietnamese boys.
