I have been having a problem for a few years in the bung hole area with bleeding.  Sometimes it goes away or isnt a problem, but for a few months now, its gotten pretty bad.  The amount of blood coming out started becoming alarming even to me and I finally bit the bullet and told my Dr, who recommended I see a proctologist.  I have always been loathe about any contact in that area, particularly anything invasive, but something needed to be done and inspected by a professional.  So, I go to the Dr and he has with him another Dr and a nurse and they bring me into the room and have me kneel on this platform and lie on my belly and then they start.  Sweet mother of God am I uncomfortable!  First is his finger (I hope) and then he uses a scope and finally he uses another thing that pumped air into me and that sure was the icing on the cake!  Im laying there biting my lip while my ass is clenching shut on this equipment and I am seeing stars.  So embarresing and uncomfortable!  I serioulsy cannot imagine how anyone finds inserting things into their anus to be remotely enjoyable. Afterward, feeling totally violated, I meet with the Dr's and he tells me that I have internal hemorroids that are hanging out and will need to have a few laser/rubber band procedures over the next few months. Anyone ever have this done? Any horror storys? Any good news from it? Im not posting this to be "shocking" and I hope that my descriptions dont scare any of you if your having a problem.  In fact, its a good thing to get it taken care of.

I havent gone precisely because of my reluctance to have any contact in that area.  I know its irrational, but as long as it wasnt painfull in a debilitating way, I tolerated it.

I hope you had a smoke afterwards.But seriously, it takes a big man to go for something like that. I know too many men who won't go to the doctor until it's something serious and an emergency room is involved.I'm glad you took care of it.

Have you looked into Infrared photocoagulation treatment.  It may be  that it is just for less advanced conditions but it is supposed to be less invasive because it uses light to shrink and create scar tissue instead of cutting or banding.

Now that I think about it and read up on Infrared photocoagulation treatment as mentioned above, I believe thats one of the things he is going to do.  The Dr lead me to believe that it will be not so painful, but from what I read, it looks like I will likely experience a bust of heat as it happens.  <img src="http://www.ronfez.net/messageboard/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/glurps.gif" border="0" />Hopefully it wont be too bad.  He says that there is no nerve endings inside, but somehow, I doubt its completely numb.  I really cant believe that in this day and age that they dont have a numbing spray or like a baby wipe dipped in novacaine or something.  Ill find out in 2 weeks when I go for the first of the procedures.

Tomorrow is going to be the first of 4 IRC treatments for me.  And I am a little scared right now!  I wish they could knock me out, and despite the Dr's assurance that it isnt needed, Id still prefer it if it were possible, but no.  Im going to have to simply take it and deal with the discomfort and embarresment.

I explained my fears to the nurse before hand and she calmed me down, she must have seen how nervous I was.  I told her how the idea of this today upset my stomach during the day and made me a little sick.  She calmed me down and I guess she told the Dr because he came in and right away wanted to reassure me.  They both told me that my fears are unfounded, and of course, at the time of it, it certainly doesnt seem so unfounded.  But I do have to say that right now Im not in any pain and it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be.

To be serious if I may? While they were doing all of this poking and peeking, did any of the Dr.'s suggest a prostate check?  We are in the same age range and I still haven't gone yet. We are in the same age range and I still haven't gone yet. It would probably take a leaking anus for me to do soi'm pretty certain they have a blood test now that can detect prostate cancer and is thorough enough...i too am a virgin - at soon to be 43 i'd say it's a great accomplishment

2 days later now and I can tell you I have had no blood or pain. I am pleasantly suprised!  I still have to go through a few more procedures and when it is all done, I have a feeling that I will wonder why I waited so long.  But the honest answer is that I simply do not want any contact with my ass by anyone, but I would recommend this if anyone is having a similar problem. Its called an IRC procedure.  IRC stands for Infra-Red Coagulation, and essentially, they use high intensity light to destroy the blood vescles that feed the hemerroid, and without that blood supply, it shrinks away to nothing.  Apparently, once beyond your ass hole, your intestines have no nerve endings at all, so your numb inside and dont feel anything.  It is the asshole itself that has feelings and thats what bothers me.  I dont like any touching or foreign objects in there.  But the initial exam is far worse then the procedure itself.  In the initial exam, they expand you a lot larger and also inflate your colon to see whats going on, and the feeling is very uncomfortable.  But I would say that its worth it to go through it.

I had the second procedure on Thursday and it went even better than I expected.  Its kind of amazing how the bleeding seems to have been stopped instantly and aside from the discomfort and momentary embaressment, I wonder why I waited so long.  I have two more to go (hopefully), and then I'll be done.
