Did anyone catch this on CBS last night? I was taping it to see if "...no.....I am your father" made the list. It cut out at 10 because I thought it would take only 2 hours for this to show. WRONG!!!I was at like #24 when my tape ended and I was only able to pick up the top 3 when I got back to the vcr.Alot of classic moments.Hell the Godfather could make up at least 25% of the list.

The whole point of these lists is to get AFI's name out there, and have people discuss what was left in, what was left out, and how this should have been over that, etc. etc.  About 12 years ago, when I was working in AFI's DC office, there were lots of efforts by the "Left Coast" AFI to try and official brand the American Film Institute with the 100th anniversary of cinema. They even lobbied capital hill, and did wacky tie-ins with things as obtuse as the soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful" (AFI Director, Jean "Our Lady of the Movie Image" Firsternberg and Charlton Heston both appeared on the soap).Right before I left they had gutted a lot of research and preservation staff on both coasts, yet found money for marketing specialists, who came up with these "AFI 100 YEARS..." specials.

They actually showed PeeWee during the opening montage ("I know you are but what am I?!") but then, it wasnt in the actual show.  Strange.They did skip a few numbers here and there.  It didn't go straight through all 100 quotes.  Maybe they PW Herman was one of the ones they skipped.
