I mean there are a lot of instrumental tracks, so anyone looking for music with lyrics might be somewhat disappointed. But there are about 6 or 8 songs with a female singer and this one song with a male singer on there too. Those are my favorite tracks, and without a doubt are worth getting the whole album for. It just sets such a dark, evil, hopless feeling for the game. Awesome music.

SILENT HILL 4: THE ROOM

I mean there are a lot of instrumental tracks, so anyone looking for music with lyrics might be somewhat disappointed.

=

true that for many sountracks, but I'm a movie music Nut, so I love the 'incidental' music that many soundtracks employ. Hell, look what a two-note bass line did for 'Jaws'.

=

Best incidental music choice for a movie in past ten years for me = Heat
1. Track 1 = Kronos Quartet, an amazing modern group, and opens the film.

Track 13 = Brian Eno's Force Marker, which they used during the bank robbery sequence. Eno is the miracle worker of 20th century music. From Genesis in the 70s to U2 now, he gets the call to come in and make noise, and mostly, listen.

Track 21 = Moby, and I am not a Moby fan, but this is the piece that begins at the end of the movie, which I wont describe for Spoliers sake, but what an emotional piece. Awesomely depressing, all the above should be heard, better yet, get the movie and watch it. Based on true story of Neil McCauley of Chi-town. A flawed film, some say too long, but I friggin love it. Not a single damed soundstage in the movie. Zero. Every single scene, every frame of film, is a location in LA. New two disc DVD has the whole story.

And if ya never heard Einsterzende Nuebauten... get ready

Gee, can ya tell I like the movie?

I have to agree with the Heat soundtrack. That's
some real good stuff. Especially that Moby song. That song would be chilling even if I didn't hear it in the movie first.

As
far as film scores go, I just picked up the Batman Begins one and I'm
loving it. And there's a great little thing they did with the track
names. It's unlikely you'd know what they are or what they mean on
first look. Here's a sampling:

1. Vespertilio

2. Eptesicus

3. Myotis

4. Barbastella

5. Artibeus

Anyone who figures that out gets an imaginary thumbs up.

I
mentioned this in another thread, but the score to the Fifth Element is
some fun stuff. The music can stand on its own. The Shawshank
Redemption is a brilliant score that fits the movie perfectly, suffers
a little on its own but is still very listenable. Finding Nemo and The
Incredibles have great scores as well.

My favorite score,
however, is from the film Akira. A little new wave mixed with
traditional Asian instruments. The score goes all over the place but
rarely falls flat.

I guess this would be a relevant place
to mention on of my favorite XM channels: Cinemagic. A channel
dedicated to film scores. GREAT channel.
Fun Fact in The Saint: There were two ending shot
to the film, one where Elisabeth Shue's character lives, and one where
she dies. Test audiences actually prefered the one where she died, but
they decided to go with the other one.
