I've worked with a semi-large petstore company for almost 3 years and I felt that I deserved more since I did more work than most of the people there...I was wrong.

I requested a transfer to a different store cause I just couldn't deal with the constant bullshit that came in that store. I was rejected management positions, I turned down a Lead position 3 times because they werent willing to give me more money...and the list goes on. It honestly felt like I was back in school where everything creates Drama. My co-workers even saw the dreaded changes that esculated(spelling?). I was brought into the office and was talked to by the store director(Main boss) and he told me that I had to wait 2 weeks(Near beginning of July) before they can think of having me transfer or see if I can move up a position. Without my agreement, he made me a Lead but I didnt get money for it.

He gave me bullshit on how I have "3 or more windows of opportunity" waiting for me as a career in that company. I fell for it and had such confidence until another co-worker told me that he told him the same exact thing.....2 years ago.

So now I'm basically fucked over, depressed as shit cause I have no f'n clue what to do. Job searching sucks as I dont want to work in a petstore anymore and most warehouse jobs you have to be bilingual. Each day when I'm there, I'm closer and closer to walking out and burning my work shirt on the office floor. I even claimed myself a failure in life cause I can't seem to do anything right(says so on my nametag).

Let me guess, you're in your 20's.

Most people are this way
at that age. The thing you need to consider is is you go somewhere
else, You're back to square one. Now you're the LAST in line, just
somewhere else. And if you quit that job, then pretty soon you'll be in
your mid 30's wondering why everyone else has advanced in life and you
haven't. Like some people I know.

If you want to get a real skill, and go to school for it, then
you're talking. If you want bullshit jobs to be personally and
professionally satisfying, good luck. Those jobs are for people who
would otherwise be watching Oprah.
Have you built a resume and tried contacting the HR departments of larger pet stores like Petco or Pet Smart and try and float your experience and desire to work for them as a good reason to hire you? Are you really into the pet store field or are you looking into going for a different type of industry? Seems to me that people are getting more and more into their pets and this type of business is lucrative right now, you just need to make yourself invaluable to the right company/department. Try and see whats essential to these companys (any company) and try and get yourself into it, and express tha to the people who are in position to notice your interest and maybe they can recommend you or give you advice. Try and go to all the websites for diferent companys that your interested in and look to see if they have positions posted, and look on Monster or whatever. Good luck.

Here's an idea for you. Do people come into your store all the time looking for something you dont carry?

Make it and sell it.

I turned down a Lead position 3 times because they werent willing to give me more money...

That makes them think you're not a "go-getter" and are only interested in money. Sucks, but that's the real world for you. I'm an assistant and my boss recently got promoted. I'm STILL working my old job supporting 45+ people, PLUS doing analytical work for my boss who's now the BIG boss (2x the work). I'm hanging in working for the same $$$ hoping in a year or two I'll be rewarded with a promotion. If I said "I'm not doing this work unless you give me more money", that would leave a baaaad taste in their mouth come promotion time. Sometimes you gotta suck it up for a year or two and hope something will come out of it.

If you really hate it, I mean DESPISE your job, start looking for something else with at least a salary jump. You will pretty much have to deal with drama everywhere you work though.

-What sucks is that the only other job I can really do is Warehouse jobs but unfortunetly most of them you have to be bilingual.

-School might be out of the question cause I'm broke as hell after just getting my license/car/insurance.

-Main position I was offered so far for the company I work(PetsMart) is doing overnight stock at a store about 45 minutes away from where I live for at most a $1.50 more...which most likely can happen since I know the Store Director there(used to be a boss at my store and had asked me to transfer when he got a promotion).

Only problem with that is my girlfriend will either be working nights or mornings..but we already discussed what we can do about that..(i.e. Hanging out between hours of her coming home from work and me leaving for work, or days taht we luck out and have the same day off)

Edit: And about me not being a "go-getter", what I also meant to say about that was I turned it down cause I considered it to be a "Joke" position since my boss was handing it out to pretty much everyone in the store...even people who dont do jackshit except walk around and have there hand up their asses.
No Longer Is the Sadness Apart of Me

I think i need to deter away from what people told you:

Suck it up, be a f'n man and deal with it. Life is hard and everyone is miserable. If you don't like how things are, do something other then whining about it. You can't sit on your ass anymore and think things will be ok.

I went from making $70,000 to making $37,000 because the DOD cut the contract i was on. I didn't whine or complain i did what had to be done and got a second job to supplement my income. And with a car you should be more mobile to find better jobs that might be farther off.

Stop whining and get off your ass

*Claps* Very Nice man...very nice.

What I meant about that overnight jobby thing, thats what I'm most likely going to take after I had a chat with my boss the other day(Sunday). He told me what was more involved...they were going to throw me into a store that had its problems(Managers getting fired left and right as the associates) but he had asked that I get moved to another store that I already used to(Been there a couple of times for Inventory).

Payment will be better...yeah like I said management knows me and they know how I work. From the "whinning" I put on here, I dont show that when I work my ass off. People dont even realize im still in the store cause I keep quite when I do my shit. Yeah I talk but thats to my co-workers explaining to them what needs to be worked on and what bullshit "planograms" need to be fixed. Many of them look up to me even if they are years older than me cause they see the work as well as other things into work(Blood...well lots of that after getting bit, stabbed). I'm not a hard ass on them cause that wouldnt be the cool thing to do. They dont finish something, oh well they can do it tomorrow.
