You will not find a bigger fan of old VH than me, but even I couldn't imagine listening to Diamond Dave's asinine, inane ramblings for 4 hours every morning.  I would almost rather have him work on me in an ambulance, as long as he didn't talk.

VH jumped the shark during and after OU812. (although..."Right Now" is a great f'cking song)I treat the Sammy and Dave years as two different phases of the bands career.  I wont say they went downhill after Dave left, but I do think they changed direction.The band just started to become boring after OU812.  Those same tired "Teacher Boogie" double bassdrum beats...the screaming vocals....the guitar histrionics...it just got so played out.  Newsflash to Eddie Van Halen: Leave that god damned whammy bar in the case! I think Dave would be a perfect replacement for Howard,  "Hoo Hoo.. Sammys been ripping me off for yerars!" The only guy from Van Halen I still like is Micheal Anthony,  he seems too do whatever the hell he wants regardless of who's fighting with who.

They did this bit before (Not David Lee Roth, but with some fake lame "feel good" morning show duo) They key to the bit is when they give out the phone number it's still 1-800-44-STERN but they give it out as 1-800-44-78376. Also that David Lee Roth sound a like has been on Stern's show a bunch of times, It might be the same guy who does Sam Kinison.I liked it when Stern called in (Another clue) and was whining that he didn't get to do a Goodbye show. He did say they don't really do that in Radio.Is the bit still going? The people who called in sounded just like the morons who fell for it when Howard did this same stunt on April 1st. At least this time it wasn't on April Fools day and there were real rumors (real rumors? I mean rumors not started by Stern) about Diamond David Lee Roth taking over. But those people are still idiots (If they were real callers)

The joke aside, according to dcrtv.com, Howard did admit that he IS leaving broadcast radio in September and will be on Sirius in January, which really is for the best (in the long run) for the Infinity run stations who need to figure out what they are doing. He also admitted that David Lee Roth could be his replacement, or Adam Corola.Personally, I'd love it if he was replaced by David Lee Kinison (aka: Elfish) and Carola from The Hideout (aka: Beniccio / Chunks / Kevin Rogers). I was listening at 6 this morning and knew from the start it was a
bit. The best thing was going to Stern message boards and seeing people
flip out. It was a boring hour, at least the real show lasted till 11
though.

Are we talking Chevy Chase show bad?yes. very much sodidn't hear roth ... the next show, jv & elvis were dreadful -- and i forced myself to listen an hour ... i gave the radio chick a shot -- but after the first call was a 'Ramone' call, i punched out ... the five minutes reminded me how annoying the constant sound bytes and drops are ... booker will suck, becaused he sucked last week and nothing much has changed ...the only promise might be the 11-3 shift, but the guy's main bio is VH1's best week ever ...

Today was better. Got someone named "Robin" to sit there and laugh at
his jokes all day, which is always a good move. Much better show today.

I may be alone in this, but I loved his Friday show, and listened from
7-10 am. He's funny, interested in alot of different topics, and has a
million one liners. Plus he's way more cool than I expected. I expected
him to be an egotistical rock star, but he's lead a real interesting
life from Van Halen to volunteering as a EMT worker. I'm starting to
get hooked, a little more each day. I wasn't a big fan of Stern, though
I listened occasionally. Like DLR much better so far.

Im telling you, Roth has the gift of gab. I dig the show. His reading is a little weak, but for his first week in radio, I'd say the guy did pretty damn well. I like when he starts talking spanish to spanish callers- I still think Steven Tyler should be his sidekick. On Friday DLR was better than he had been all week.  He does have the gift of gab, but he's not funny.  Then again if it's not a comedy show, I guess that dosen't matter.  He was at his best when his ego was on display talking about all the things he started (i.e., Eddie's guitar stripes).On a side-note, I have to admit Penn hasn't sucked.  <img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y201/torker1313/andretork.jpg" border="0" /> Take my soul to the lost and found

yeah I agree. Penn has a pretty cool show.  I've always thought Penn was cool.

I dont think he's trying to be a comedian, he's an entertainer. Alot of his one liners are more clever than funny. The
funniest thing on his show so far was playing Paul Anka doing "Jump".
That was fucking hilarious, and DLR was diggin it.
