Am I Developing a Peanut Allergy?

<p>This is going to sound weird, but here it goes:
For the last couple months, everytime I eat something with peanut
butter I get this weird feeling in my face. Specifically, it feels like
the general area below my eyes gets warm and feels as if it is starting
to sweat. It's isn't sweating, but it feels like it is. And then after
a few seconds it goes back to normal.</p><p>Does anybody have any kind of explanation for this?<br />

<p>Does your throat feel itchy?&nbsp; Or do you feel like you have something caught in your throat?</p><p>I developed allergies to Penicillin and Shellfish when I was a teenager after I had no allergies to them previously.&nbsp; The allergy always starts with my face/throat feeling itchy, so it sounds like you might have an allergy.</p>

Well you might want to get an allergy test... I have severe allergies to penicillin and shellfish, I've eaten things that were cooked with shellfish before and gotten hives, the hives start out as feeling very hot, then itchy.&nbsp; Maybe you have a mild allergy.

<p>I had some peanut butter the other day and i almost threw up. I
pretty much convinced myself it was because i ate it seperate from
bread and that was that.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>So.....stop being a pussy and put it on some bread.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I had almond toffy (taffy, tophy?&nbsp; You know what I mean) a few months ago, and the back of the roof of my mouth started to feel weird.&nbsp; I paid no attention to it, and kept eating some more.&nbsp; I started to feel overheated and the itching in the back of my throat started to get worse, like when your ears feel itchy and you use your tongue to try to get rid of the itch.</p><p>If thats what an allergy is, then I might be getting it too.&nbsp; Who knows.</p><img src="http://scripts.cgispy.com/image.cgi?u=Melrapuo" border="0" /> YANKEES FAN SINCE BIRTH!

<p>My guess is you're just neurotic about peanuts for some reason. Most
people who really have allergies have no idea what the cause is, until
they get tested. If you think theres something wrong with peanuts for
some reason, or you have a hypochondriac streak in you, you can give
yourself a mild allergic reaction just from fear and nervousness. Sort
of like a mild panic attack. The brain can be weird. You can read or
hear something and it gets stuck in your head, and the next thing you
know you're subconsciously reacting to it. </p><p>Or you may have an actual allergy, but you wont know unless you get tested. <br />

no, but in most of the cases i heard, developed allergies came from too
much of something. My mom gets hives when she eats chocolate because
one halloween, she ate too much<br />

<p><font size="1">Don't you have to be born with an alergy?</font></p><p>No, you can develop them over the course of your life. My sister oddly enough developed a weird allergy to strawberries that for years made her very sick every time she had one. The one day she had something with strawberries in it (she didn't know it until after) and she was fine. Since then she has been able to eat them again. It was very odd.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
