I have a great idea for a new video game "POLITICAL DOOM"

A
"Doom" style game where you chase down politicians who try to pass
these laws and eliminate them one by one. At the end of the game, you
have a showdown with Joe Lieberman, who has some crazy, Jewish powers
of some sort. I dont know, like a magic dradel or something. Here's the only thing. At the end, you always lose.

Think they'll try to ban that? Nah.

This would be so Un-constitiuonal its not even funny, Its really just one of those LOOK AT ME I'M DOING SOMETHING LAWS. This guy will get some play be on some cable shows and then disappear. The game industry has a pretty good lobby so i dont think much will come of this.

When i first arrived you were all such jerks

But now i've come to love your quirks

Ya know, when they wanted to put labels on the games, I think a lot of people were like "Well, give them this and they won't bother us again." How wrong we were. All the people screaming about how this was the 1st step to censoring our video games might have been right.

I hope they all die.

An open letter to all who want to save us from violent video games:

Thank you so much from saving me from violent video games. It means so much to me that you couldn't care less about starving people on the street and couldn't care more about the video games I play. At least your infringement on my first ammendment right will save me from being harmed by such a realistic portrayal of violence. Now there will be one less thing to have to choose from in life!

Politicians... narrowing life's choices down every day... for the better (of course)!

the end

Let me start by saying I agree with the consensus of this thread that politicians should butt out of regulating what I choose to do for recreation as long as I'm not damaging anybody else's person or property. However, I think it is a good idea to challenge one's own beliefs every once in awhile just to make sure they still make sense. With that in mind, take a look at this snippet of Tom Friedman's column on hate speech from today's NY Times:

...Iqra not only sold hatemongering Islamist literature, but, according to The Wall Street Journal, was "the sole distributor of Islamgames, a U.S.-based company that makes video games. The video games feature apocalyptic battles between defenders of Islam and opponents. One game, Ummah Defense I, has the world 'finally united under the Banner of Islam' in 2114, until a revolt by disbelievers. The player's goal is to seek out and destroy the disbelievers."

Now I'm sure everybody on this board could get some yuks from this game by thinning the herd of infidels, whether by sending suicide bombers into Judeo/Christian shopping malls or by taking unbelievers and lopping off important body parts with a scimitar and not be any the worse for it. But are you really comfortable with some 12 year old kid named Kareem or Mohammed playing this game at a Muslim youth center after listening to an imam on the Saudi Wahhabist payroll at Friday's prayers? Because that is the real test on where you stand on not messing with video games.
