I literally just saw a commercial for this and had no idea it was even coming out tuesday...Hopefully EA has overhauled the engine, because the last couple of years the game has been exactly the same...

Some of the new stuff looks kinda cool

Electronic Arts had playable versions of PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of NCAA Football 06 available on the E3 show floor. We were able to get a demonstration of the game and get a close look at the game's new "race for the Heisman" mode, which is a sort of football role-playing game where you follow the college career of a player from his freshman year through his senior season. The ultimate goal is to win a job in the starting lineup and do well enough in games that you win the Heisman trophy. When you first load up NCAA 06, you'll start out in the role of a high school senior whose coach tells you that you've got one last shot at impressing some college scouts. You find yourself in the midst of some kind of prep camp, where you'll do a different minicamp drill, depending on what position you choose for your player.

Aside from including the race for the heisman mode, the game has been overhauled in other ways. The pregame show now takes place on a College Gameday-style set, where you'll get predictions and other analysis from veteran college football commentators Brad Nessler, Lee Corso, and Kirk Herbstreit. New celebration and postgame animation has been added to the game, as well as updated stadium models and new animations like combo tackles and pancake blocks.

We also got a taste of the new impact player mode while playing a couple of games. Impact players are the stars on each team who can pull off amazing plays to swing the momentum of a game. Pick a team like USC, and you can find yourself with as many as three or four impact players on each side of the ball. Most ranked teams will have one or two impact players. These players are denoted by solid white halos underneath them, so you'll know who the go-to guys are. When these players get in the zone, the halos will glow, and the juke moves you do (which are now mapped to the right analog stick) can unleash special Burnout-style stop-action close-ups that show your ballcarrier breaking some poor defender's ankles or stiff-arming him into the turf. It sounds disruptive, but when they happen, they're pretty cool looking and don't seem to disrupt the flow of the game.

Actually, to be honest, I don't even know if I am going to buy Madden this year....I barely played it last year...

Its just part of my ongoing dislike of the NFL.....i'm just not interested in it any more....I'd rather watch College Football...

College is way better then Maddens for two reasons

1. Option offense

2. 126 Teams instead of 32

I got mine today and I'm not impressed by it at all. I REALLY hope Madden 06 is nothing like NCAA 06

I'm enjoying it so far...the gameplay is really fun compared to last year, recievers actually catch the ball when you throw it to them...

i love the people who buy this thinkin its madden with college teams.

its
a different game, different schemes, and players arent as skilled.
thats just like real life. I always liked the college games, i even
want madden to incorporate laterals.

and HBox, i get
where you are going, but its pretty ridiculous. For 1, i forget who,
but EA wont be able to make a baseball game next year cause someone
else bought the rights. EA made, by far, the best baseball game this
year, and now they cant. So dont get uptight cause they bought the
football rights

I wasn't too impressed with the ESPN Baseball this year.....I think it was rushed, and you can tell because it's very very buggy which makes it really annoying to play...I've just been playing NBA 2K5 online all the time because its so addictive and fun
....We haven't seen the sun since '71Thanks Monsterone!!

Well, the best I can say is for me, I am enjoying it so far...it seems a lot more difficult than last year's for one, and they have cleaned up a lot of things in the game that needed to be cleaned up, like you can do different packages now, and theyve added the "impact player" although they didn't completely overhaul the engine...

Race for the Heisman is fun so far...i gave myself a mullet...

I will say this the computer AI is much much better and it is difficult to blow out other teams.

Has anyone noticed that created teams are much much weaker then some middle of the road teams i made a juggernaut team and got spanked by freakin ECU

I will say this the computer AI is much much better and it is difficult to blow out other teams.

i won my first game as rutgers (no created players) against USC 96-23. i'll have to turn the AI to all-american or something. I only played for a few but is there a way to play the heisman mode ousdie of your dormroom (redshirting players, custom schedules etc?) it didnt look like there was.

I'm the Terps (naturally) and its pretty tough going...I had my first game set on "Varsity" and pummeled Navy 45-10, but then since i moved up to "All-Amiercan" ive never been beaten this bad in a game by the computer...got pummeled by VA 41-10....

....We haven't seen the sun since '71Thanks Monsterone!!
