I work with a fella who is about 30 and has life insurance. This is not something I had planned on doing anytime soon. At 25, not married, no kids, what is my motivation to get life insurance? What ages do people start looking for life insurance. Do you have it? I don't even know what kind of policies there are or even what type my parents have.

quote: I think Im covered at work under my policy. I hope A lot of work policies only cover some low multiple of your salary, like 1.5 or 2 times your annual take. You ought to look into it (and obviously whether you are covered).

my wife and i have policies for approx 4 years now. we want to cover each other and the kids to at least have the home paid off and some extra to have some comfort for a good period of time.

in my family my mom, dad, and granparents were 'old school' and didn't carry any substantial life insurance. they always felt they couldn't afford it and needed the money to keep the roof and food going. we're hoping to break that trend and leave behind enough to make our kids life a little easier...
