Both of my parents are Democrats, and yet every year they seem pissed at them and vote Republican. I've always been a Republican, but some of my friends take after their parents. Do you?

My Mom is a Kennedy-loving liberal so...not at all.

My dad was a Dem his whole life before he died and my Mom is funny because she is so Republican yet doesnt agree with most stuff Republicans stand for. I'm so far left that I wont use the right side of my body.

Mom is a conservative Democrat - Dad is a liberal Republican and they taught me to see both sides and make up my own mind. Dad recently voted for a Democrat (the first he ever admitted to) for Gov. of Kansas back in 2002, and if the Republicans had put up McCain in 2000 Mom would have voted for him over Gore.

Until 2000 I was proud that I voted almost evenly between the parties, judging on the candidates, and even voted Independent a couple of times. By default these days, however, I've voted Democratic. I am furious at this administration and at the state of the GOP. Both parties have let me down in the last year, but I see the agenda of the far right having far more influence over the Republicans than the agenda of the far left having on the Democrats.

My dad hasn't voted in decades, but he's pretty far to the right. My mom's a Republican who voted for Kerry. I tend to fluctuate between Democrat and Independent, though I always lean to the left.
Thanks WWFallon! You can be disappointed, but you cannot walk away. This fight has just begun.

my parents never got involved in politics, i took more influence from my grandfather. he lived through the depression and saw all the good things that Franklin Roosevelt accomplished and it put him on the democratic side. he was also a union leader for colgate palmolive employees in jersey city for 35 years...

My parents couldn't be interested less in politics,
pretty much hate whoever's in power, though they are reaching new
heights of hatred with Bush, but I'd describe them as liberal leaning
independents.
Not at all. My mom's a Democrat, dad's a Republican. I used to think I was a Republican, and so my dad cheered that on, but since I joined the Marines I started to go all Ron Kovic.

Stepfather was a right-wing radio frequent caller. He lived in a small town in Arizona and blamed all of his problems on blacks and liberals, even though he hadn't even seen a black person or a liberal in 20 years. Yeah, he was an influence, I suppose.

I asked my real father recently what the most important political issue was to him. "Gay marriage and abortion," he said. Both of them had to be stopped. "This is a Christaian country." Blah blah blah. Freaked me out, but I'm 36 and I'm just now hearing his political views. No impact, except as another example of why I always keep it in mind to not demonize people solely on the basis of their political views; ie: here's a man I love and respect who sees the world differently than I do.

How political views are expressed or implimented, however... it's open season.
