Teams can buyout any existing contract for 2/3 of
the contract for anyone they want. The Rangers want to keep Jagr, so
they're not buying out his. The only caveat is that once you buyout a
contract, you can't go and re-sign that player. If you want to keep a
player you have on roster, you have to keep them at their existing
contract.<br />

<p>They have already said they will buyout holiks contracts...and the Devils expect to sign him for very cheap.&nbsp; The devs have Stevens and Brodeur under contract for 8.5 million each per year, so both contracts will be reworked out.&nbsp; With all that...let the rangers get stuck with Crosby...you do realize they are calling him the next lindros and &quot;the hottest&quot; prospect since lindros.&nbsp; Yea what did Lindros ever do besides get knocked out of his mind by Stevens on the best open ice hit ever!!&nbsp; Plenty of prospects go undrafted or low and still become amazing.&nbsp; </p>
