This was a good summer movie. Not exactly the most original plot (it echoes MATRIX and LOGANS RUN in many many ways) but, it did succeed at balancing the plot and the over-the-top action.

This is Michael Bays first "real" movie. It doesn't have any of the shmaltz of the other ones.

And once again....the actual LOOK of the movie is 2nd to none. The gloss...the sets...the lighting... the constantly moving cameras... the low angles...the super slo-mo...the smash cut editing.... everything really had that Michael Bay sheen.

In other words, it's entirely possible to HATE all his other movies, yet...enjoy this one. No shmaltz. No silly sentimentality.

A little thin, but a great summer movie. It was an interesting plot that was executed very masterfully. In particular, I was impressed by how they handled the interaction between the Ewan McGregor clones, which often comes across as silly or just not believable in these kinds of movies. They didn't go overboard with it and it came across very natural.

The only thing that really bothered me was that all the cars were from 2005. The police cars were modified Chrysler 300s, the special ops cars were Dodge Magnums, and I noticed a few others like the Honda Element, the Nissan Murano, and some randon GMC and Chevy SUVs. It's a small point, but it distracted me from the movie at times.

I guess he should have thrown another power ballad by Aerosmith into the damn thing.
