I'll just throw out Jim Brown.  Lacrosse and football, he was dominate.  Just wanted to get the discussion going.

I'll give you cred with the hockey players.  Their legs are strong
like bull.  Definitely high up in the athletic range.

<img height="212" src="http://www.modnt.org/Graphics/b-jackson-main.jpg" width="382" border="0" />Bo was drafted by the Yankees, but went to Auburn instead. Bo batted .401 with 17 HR's and 43 RBI's in '85, qualified for the 60 yard dash in his freshman and sophomore years, and won the 1985 Heisman Trophy.Everyone knows what he did as a pro, but I'm telling you, when this guy was at Auburn, he was un-fucking real!  My sister ran head into him while running to class her freshman year and she described it like running into a brick wall.  I watched him play football all four years (mostly on TV), and got to see him crush a few homers at plainsman's park, and he had incredible speed and agility on the bases and in the outfield too.  He and "The Big Hurt" Frank Thomas were on the same team for a couple of years, but Frank's skills were so overshadowed by Bo that he didn't get much attention until after Bo graduated.He was back at AU during spring practice and they said he was still throwing up 350 on the bench like it was nothing.  If it weren't for the Avascular Necrosis that caused the deterioration of the cartilage and bone around his hip after his injury in 1991, there probably wouldn't even be a need to start a thread like this, because he was on track to put up the stats in the pro's (BOTH sports) to back up the claim that he was the greatest athlete ever!

simply for how they played while basically going through the worst
thing people can. i just cant give it to jim brown though, cause he wasnt even as good a RB as barry sanders

Fucking TENNIS players are done by the time they're 30, and Tennis
players are the biggest pussies alive. Skating takes 0 athletic
ability, you could skate in your sleep. The most demanding sport, by far is NASCAR. Followed closely by Volleyball.

i would say a good, well trained boxer would be the an athlete who is in the best shape along with having great skills...but as far as the 'best athlete' i would have to go with the ones who participate in the olympic event where it includes several sports like the triathlon, the one Bruce Jenner participated in...
