Jerry, this is a serious comment, im not trying to be a dick. why
do you always have to try to bring things down. All you do is post
negative things and complain, it drags down the whole mood. Dont you
ever think that maybe, if you werent like that, youd be more positive
and more people would be more positive with you.I find alot of
people who are always moping around and bitching seem to cause people
not to want to be around them, making them feel worse. You cant keep
giving sob stories and talking about why everything sucks, cause no one
wants to talk about that shit.If you actually just commented on

Personally I am really excited about the new schedule changes and the elimination of the Red line....I think that Jagr will thrive off of these new rules and hopefully break Adam's single season Ranger record for goals.  Question:  Does any one know if goals scored in the shootout are going to be counted in the stats?

it wasnt mentioned, but ill say no. Usually in a shootout, no matter
the result, they just award 1 to the winning team, so they cant count
those goals, except in its own catagory of shootout stats. But it wont
count toward the season

First off I want to thank Fallon for unlocking the thread....think you guys can behave yourself this time? If not do not post in here, I would not want to see it locked up again. Thanks.Well the schedual is finally out...any comments?I see my Devils are playing three tough teams right off the bat. We face the Penguins on Opening day, then the Flyers and then a home and home against the Rangers. The only bitch I have is that the Rangers games are 4 days apart. Kind of a wide berth for two teams who are only 20 mins drive from each other wouldn't you say?Looks like a good schedual from what I saw. Look foward to seeing this season.

People are expecting Crosby to play for the Pens and not minors. 
 There are 10 such matchups on opening night alone, including Pittsburgh at
New Jersey. That should mark the NHL debut of teenage forward Sidney Crosby,
expected to be drafted first overall Saturday by Pittsburgh.

we are talking about the Penguins here, quite possibly the worst team in the NHL going into this hiatus and there attendance was horrendous.  This last year only drove the good people of Pittsburgh further away from the sport.  They need to put asses in seats.  Right or wrong for his development, Sydney will be right beside Mario come opening night.

didn't draft this kid to put people in the seats for 2 months. It
doesnt matter how good the kid is, when they are in last in january, no
one will be at the arena.they drafted him so that they had a
franchise type superstar for the next 10 years, to build around and
win. Developement has alot more to do with things them you think. asses
in the seats or not, you get him hurt in november, and you fuck
yourself everyway possible

I know why they got him, unless this kid gets paralyzed he is going to be a franchise player for years to come.  They also need people to come to games this year as well. And in the beginning of the season the idea of two of the four highest scoring playes in the history of a league like the QJL, which has produced countless NHL all stars, is a pretty good marketing scheme.  What makes you think his chances of getting hurt in the NHL are any better than his chances of getting hurt in the AHL?  They hit just as hard down there and will be gunning for him just the same.  The smart play is starting this kid in Pittsburgh.  If he is a spark, great.  If not the Pens sell out 9 or 10 games that they wouldn't have otherwise.  If they are in last come December and the novelty has worn off and he is not up to par yet, maybe they send him down for the remaionder of the season.

no, its not the same in the minors, thats why its the minors. the
point being, his game wont be NHL ready. He hasnt played at that speed,
only juniors. Let him play a little in the minors to feel out the speed
and everything else, and get stronger. he could get hurt anywhere, yea,
but he is less likely to get hurt against less expirienced guys, and
once he has the expirience and added stregnth, then bring him up. How many times have you heard of NHL picks playin right away

Now i don't follow hockey as much as other sports, but i think they would at least wait till training camp to see how he will do.  While it is true he is not used to the speed of the NHL and the new rules is anyone else in the NHL game ready with a year off?  I think give him a chance to prove himself and then see wehre we are at with this guy

but 17 is nuts, its not about not giving them a chance, its more like
the football arguement. They make you go to college cause you arent
physically ready for the NFL. college has some nasty hits, but nothing
like the league. in hockey, 99% of draft picks go to the minors for the
same reason. If they rush the kid, and he isnt physically ready, even
if it doesnt hurt him, it could stunt his growth has a player or break
his confidence

cant compare basketball, because physicially most kids are able, just
dont have the game. this kid has the game, but he might not be
physically ready. i get your point, i just dont agree, give him a year,
he will still only be 18, and better at first then he will be now.and
kobe wasnt kobe he is now when he came up, wasnt even close, neither
was tmac, KG, none of them, they all took a few years. The only guy in
the NBA is labron, and he may be the next jordan. But he has also shown
what he can do at the top level already, this kid hasnt

case I was wrong, but was it worth the risk different,
cause wright did play in the minors. This would have been like them
drafting him and sending him right to the majors

also have to look at the Penquins orginization. They amost got
moved/contracted and need a new arena in the worst way. They currently
have the oldest in the league. If this kid shows he's gonna be a star
on the NHL level this season they will get that new arena.
