So I guess they're saying there was more debris torn from the shuttle during launch, as scene on the fuel tank cam... But I don't see how it has any bearing on the re-entry process of the shuttle, as it is just some foam from the fuel tank (which detached soon after), not the actual space shuttle. The foam also did not hit the shuttle, so I'm guessing this won't pose a threat.

Here's the story and some links to video.

And the debris does not look like it hit the shuttle.

EDIT: I should read more than the first sentence of a post from now on.
It's good that it looks like it didn't hit the shuttle, but with the last shuttle, the same thing happened. Foam fell off the fuel tank and damaged the tiles on the shuttle.

i read this off yahoo's story

quote: A 1 1/2-inch-wide bit of tile captured on camera appeared to fly off the shuttle's belly, on the edge of a door that encloses the nose landing gear. It was not clear if the tile had been struck by anything.

it states that something came off the shuttle

DEBRIS

lets just hope that it's nothing serious. i don't think the space program can handle another disaster this soon.
I bet this happens during every liftoff and they only noticed it this
time because of what happened last time, and because they now have so
many cameras.
