Its not necessarily steroids it could be a banned "stimulant" like the rest of the people this year have been caught using.  My question is where is the MLB Union posting information for players of what supplements or such things not to take.  That was one complaint i heard early on is that the policy is racist becausce the foreign players couldn't read the ingredients.  Isn't it on the union to let these guys know hey stay away from this one but this one is ok

Everyone suspended by the MLB so far has used the bullshit excuse of "I
didnt know what it was". Obviously its the easiest one, but come on, no
ones buyin the fact that guys are taking OTC drugs and testing
positive. And when the fuck are they gonna agree on the new steroid
policy? Like 100 games for the first offense? If the MLBPA balksI hope
McCain and the rest of em step in and make em.

" I initially was thinking that since he got 3000 hits AND 500 HRs ( both things that by themselves will get you in ) he should get in but the more I think about it if 500 of those HRs were roid aided then he only has 2500 hits.

can take those. You are allowed to smoke weed in the NBA, its not a
banned substance. If you test positive for it, they dont care. And
again, its not our problem. Steroids up until basically this year were
allowed in baseball. So i dont care if people used them, cause they
were allowed. If coke and Heroin were allowed by baseball, then i dont
care if they take that either.

Okay Mr. I Only Read The First Sentence Of Your Posts... I DID read, and I was talking about in sports. We're in a thread where the context is major league baseball, so that was clearly implied. And if you think it would be okay for players to do coke and heroine without a penalty from baseball, then you are wrong. It's called having standards. They're there for a reason. Like you said, it could take years off your life. Any dignified company would not openly let their "employees" (in this case, baseball players) do something that harms their bodies. And that's not even getting into the cheating aspect of it. It IS cheating, and your knee-scope analogy is flawed. Here's why: NOT ALL PLAYERS WANT TO DO STEROIDS. If Derek Jeter needed a knee scope to help him get back on the field, he'd do it, because it would do nothing but good for him. But steroids are not a knee scope. I'd say a good 70% of baseball players WOULDN'T do steroids, even if they WERE LEGAL. Then what do you have? You have guys on steroids who have no regard for their health, soaring past natural guys like Jeter or, for your sake, we'll say Varitek. Is that fair? Should guys like Jeter or Varitek be pressured into a decision to either A) Do steroids to keep up with the rest, or B) Fall by the wayside? No. It would not be fair. You'd have 1/3 of the league on juice, and the rest of the honest, self-respecting guys lagging behind. Stats would mean NOTHING anymore, and it would be a disgrace.

anyone should do drugs either. All i said was, if something is not
currently against the rules of the game, then i dont care and it doesnt
bother me if people do it. I wouldnt do it, and dont reccommend that

i actually have an analogy here that i think sums it up pretty well.  People
in football are allowed to use thinner pads in there pants, usually
WR's and DB's. It allows you to run faster, but also takes away from
your protection, Everyone is allowed to do it, but some guys dont want
to have the added risk of getting hurt. Should all the recievers have
their records asterisked because they were unfairly faster because they
chose smaller pads when it wasnt against the rules?   these
guys chose steroids when they werent against the rules, so you cant say
they cheated just because not everyone wanted to take the risk. It
still wasnt against rules. Anything that isnt against the rules that
can help you is fair game PERIOD

See, that's where this is getting misconstrued... "Illegal" and "cheating" are not synonymous to me. Cheating means you did something that you didn't earn naturally. Whether it's peeking at the asian kid's math test, or hitting a homerun on juice. Just because it's not against the rules, it doesn't mean it's not cheating.

they might not have failed but giambi admitted earlier this year that he took some substances I think he said unknowingly and McGwire had taken andro, it wasn't a banned substance but it is now and helped him get big or at least recover quicker

They DID have testing. It was just a bullshit system. They would test a
lot less than they do now and they would keep the test results under
wraps. Just because baseball pretty much encouraged use didnt make it

im not convinced im never wrong. you guys just never got it. there

It's so sad.. I really used to respect this guy. I always looked at him as underrated and underappreciated, because he so quietly went about getting into a club only 3 ballplayers in HISTORY are in: 500+ HRs, 3,000+ hits. It's a shame what he's so quickly turned into. He should know earplugs are only gonna make the boo's that much louder. NOT the right way to handle this.

Yesterdays article on ESPN didnt name any names nor the "supplements" in question.Todays
has Tejada's names (another one of the names in Cansecos book, though
he didnt take steroids as far as Jose knows) as well as the B-12
vitamin...If Raffie did sell his own teammate down the river to get
himself off, then thats fucked up. I mean, its OK if youre doing it to
sell books, but not to avoid jail time or whatever the penalty is for
purgury...death sentence...

When the fuck was Lawton on the juice?  He was horrible the brief period he was with the Cubs this year, and barely any better with the Pirates before that, and a near non-entity with the Yankees.And look, I'm no Yankees fan, I'll say that off the bat, but is it much of a stretch to assume this only started after he signed up with NY?  Think about it...sudden high pressure spot on a HUGE dynasty team with a rabid fan base...guy's slowing sliding his career down out of the league...maybe he just cracked.  I'm not even saying that someone on the Yankees got him on it...maybe just being on the Yankees period pushed him to it.
