every team except Miami, and just basically GAVE Miami a championship

One GM who is getting the job done is rookie GM Danny Ferry of the Cavs. Talk about an of-season:

Larry Hughes

Zyndrunas Ilgauskus

Donyell Marshall

And hopefully soon:

Damon Jones

Robert "Tractor" Traylor

With
all these moves, the Cavs are tremendous...especially considering that
Lebron is another year older and hopefully better. No choke this year
people! Right now I would call the cavs one of the best teams (on
paper) in the east, behind Miami and maybe Detroit. I would put them on
equal ground with the Nets and Pacers and ahead of the Bulls and
Celtics.

Oh, and Nets fans, enjoy McInniss, he is going to be fun for y'all when he starts his off court antics.

Last year, Tractor was good coming off the bench as a backup center
for the Cavs when Z got into foul trouble. As a backup combo
center/forward, he should be fine, considering what the cavs have
already on the team. (Ilgauskus at center, Gooden/Donyell at forward)

Now I see the Cavs are in the market for Dale Davis as well. This is turning into a good roster!

I'm sorry how did the Cavs get better? Im a wizards fan and love larry hughes but the cavs basically paid 14 million a year for a guy who is a carbon copy of Lebron. The cavs main problem is no outside shooting and they still did not address that problem. Z if he stays healthy is serviceable in the East that is about it. And what team will the Cavs replace in the playoffs?

The cavs are behind as i see it: Miami, Detroit, Indiana, New Jersey, Washington

Now they may make the playoffs but they are far far from a top 3 team in the east since they are the third best team in their own division

In addition to outside shooting, the Cavs were awful in defense last
year. Many teams exploited this and that basically made Z useless with
foul trouble. Hughes will correct that problem as an All NBA Defensive
player. Donyel Marshall will help with the outside shooting, and if
they pick up Damon Jones, the shooting will get even better. With Luke
Jackson coming off that injury, there is another outside shooter.

Number three in the east i say, number three! I see them replacing Philly in the playoffs this year.

That will be a blow to the nets as this is there big offseason move that took a long long time to put together.

Stinkbud, i did forget about the signing of Donyell Marshall as a shooter for the Cavs but he by no stretch matches what the team needs in an outside shooter. And as someone who watched close to 75 wizard games i will tell you that alot of LH steals were on gambles and that he and Gilbert played off of each other. He got away with alot but also got beat a whole lot and the cavs don't have a PG that play d nearly as well as Arenas

And Damon Jones shooting could be a result of playing with Shaq rather then great shooting...its not hard to shoot 3's with nobody in your face

I'll give ya that, Cavs need a PG hardcore...Sucked to miss out on Sarunas, but Damon Jones should be servicable.

If Ferry can unload Eric Snow's contract on the Knicks and score a quality PG all will be good!

The Nets just officially pulled out of the Abdur
Rahim trade. If nothing happens with his knees in the future the Nets
just fucked up big time.
The Nets just, instead of Abdur Rahim, traded for
Marc Jackson from the 76ers. Great, replace an almost all-star with a

Marc Jackson was plan B? Why don't they pursue an Eddy Curry or Tyson Chandler? Although both are restricted free agents there would still be a chance i guess Eddy's heart problem and Chandler's monthly flow problem will stop that pursuit

They would be able to do deals with Chicago like they would have with Portland it would be a sign-and-trade (however, i don't know if the Nets mid-level exception has now expired). Also, the market for Curry and Chandler is not what was expected so they do have a decent chance of siging one of those guys............also the knicks have mike sweetney im sure isaih would trade him for another SG or SF

Well, basically, they were still paying his contract...same thing happened with Howard Eisley and Phoenix...he doesn't play for them any more either, but they still owe him money, so they got rid of his contract to avoid paying luxury tax on it...

Any player who appears on a team's 2005-06 payroll list is eligible -- except those acquired after June 21.

That includes players who are no longer with a team but whose salary still appears on the payroll. One prominent example is Alonzo Mourning, whose contract was bought out by Toronto for an estimated $11 million in March. Mourning has since signed with the Miami Heat, but the Raptors can still make Mourning their amnesty player to avoid paying the luxury tax on what they still owe him.

Boston (with Vin Baker) and Phoenix (Howard Eisley) are also expected to use the amnesty clause in this manner.

Off season slowed to a crawl in here....but the Cavs have been busy.

Damon
Jones signed a 4 year contract, Jahidi White is on the way (Calvin
Booth is also being considered for a backup center...but I hear he is
signing with the Wizards) and Brazilian phenom Marcelo Machado has agreed in principal to join up as well.

This
is looking good. They still were in need of bench depth, outside
shooting and a good backup center. Nice work today. I will say once
again, Cavs are number 4 in the East (Miami, Indiana, Detroit,
Cleveland...and Detroit may slip down without Brown coaching them.)

Time to win a freakin title before Lebron decides to go elsewhere.

Well, I would beware of Curry anyway...not just for the heart stuff...

But last year, he was in a contract year, and the NBA is not averse to guys stepping it up to get paid....see Dampier, Erick...he had a huge year in a contract year, and the Mavs gave him a huge deal, whereupon he turned right back into a pumpkin...

It happens every single year. Someone who has been previously lackluster has a huge year, some dope pays him a ton of cash, then he goes right back to stinking again...for another classic example in baseball see Beltre, Adrian...

whats the rule on this, after 1 full year out his money comes off the

didnt cut Allen Houston with the Allen Houston rule. That would be the
first plus for Dolan, who could get a bigger one by FIRING Thomas
