I was looking for a movie for my twins babies first theater going experience. March of the Penguins seemed like a better choice that Hustle & Flow. This was a nice change of pace from the typical summer movie. The movie makes an emotional impact without making you feel manipulated. It is beautifully shot and I can’t think of a film that has been made under harsher conditions. Three thumbs up!

After seeing this; all I can say is, if humans had to go through the reproductive cycle of these Pengies, we'd have lasted about two generations. maybe.

I saw this movie last night, and I thought it was great. A couple questions though:

First,
was any of it computer animated or enhanced? A co-worker of mine
told me some shots had some CGI in them, but I wasn't sure if it was
true. I assume some of the underwater footage may have been
touched up on the computer, and the part where the egg froze was a
little to clean to be real footage in my opinion, but nothing really
stuck out as pure CGI. Then again I know jack about filming
underwater in sub arctic temps.

Second, was there ever a documentary on TLC or Disc Channel that
followed the exact same mating ritual of Emporer Penguins. I
remember seeing one that was almost exactly the same as March of the
Penguins. Did anyone see this documentary?

I have to say my
favorite part was when the 2 penguins did the hibbity jibbity. I like
how they didn't have any voice overs and just let people watch. I
thought that was nice.

I really want to see this, it looks so cute and I love penguins. At the Mystic Aquarium, they have a class where you get to interact with a penguin, I tried to sign up but it was full.

Is the movie sad? Do penguins die?

I saw this and enjoiyed it immensely. I'm such a sap though,
pretty much a woman when it comes to this kind of stuff, so Missy be
prepared. I was doing the quiet, tears down the cheek cry for most of
the film although I may have audibly sobbed at one or two points. Bring
some tissues; that's all I'm saying.

As an aside: Tissue? I hardly even know you.

Amazing what is going on down there in Anarctica. How they survived for thousands of years is incredible. Great movie - lots of fun and educational.

In other penguin news - this guy wouldn't last a minute in Anarctica, but then again, he'd only just order the troops there.

Promotion for Edinburgh’s Norwegian Army penguin

I'd rather watch the "making-of" this movie than the movie itself. I generally thought the flick had a lot of holes. First, they never explained WHY the penquins walk so far. I figured it out (if they didn't walk so far inland, they'd be floating away before the little ones were ready) but I don't get why they didn't explain it in the beginning. Second, I didn't like how the background was littered with dead penquins and they never made mention. Third, they never mentioned if there were other, similar groups of penquins. Great cinematography, bad storyline. Leave it to the French.

See? You were wrong.

I was still very sad for the plight of the penguins. It was an excellent movie.

I was pretty interested in this since I'm going down there. A few things that pissed me off where that they never mention how big they are or where in antarctica this place is. They are around 3 or 4 feet tall which is worth mentioning, and the ice that melts would have to be the Ross Ice Shelf which is kinda like a bay that freezes during winter. You'd think these fuckers would develop some way to get through that ice instead of walking 70 miles all the time. Like even scratching a few feet deep 30 miles out would be a better option no? Also, i mean we cant help these dudes out? Build a big ass building that will at least keep the wind off them during the winter. Oh, and the whole thing about the winter shots having sunlight, wtf? Bah
