<p><a href="http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/sports/12311591.htm" target="_self">When his grandfather collapsed in the stands during a Reds game, the players came to a 6 year old's rescue.</a></p><p></p><p>"We play a game," Griffey said. "What he was going through doesn't compare. It was important that the little guy not be by himself."</p><p></p><p>I'm not ashamed to say that my eyes welled up after reading this.</p>

I gotta say I am a HUGE Griffey fan and this doesn't surprise me at all. Through all the steroids talk in baseball you NEVER hear anyone bring up Griffeys name. Then you see something like this. I tell ya I would vote for this guy for president.

<p>Sad story, but bravo to the Reds and how they dealt with the situation.</p><p>Because of his seemingly constant injuries, it's easy to forget just how great Griffey is. This proves he's just as great "off the field," too.</p>

if not for all the injuries he has had the last few years we might be talking about him passing ruth and aaron instead of barry bonds.
