Hey My Buddies

I recently purchased the TAO XM2Go and am surprised to find out that the 5 hour recording time does not allow you to fast forward or rewind within the track your listening to; it only allows you to skip to the entire next track. So if you want to replay just one part, you have to listen to the entire show.

I would like to hear from other XM’ers if the other recordable XM’s work the same way?

Sorry I ment this to be posted on the Equipment Thread

Yes, all the current XM2Go products, the MyFi, The
Tao and the Airware, are identical in functionality. Other than
appearance, they are pretty much the same. That is a pretty lousy
little lack of functionality, I guess they were making it more in mind
with people recording music, not long talk shows. Hopefully the new
XM2Go units will fix this, whenever they come out.

CAKEWALK PYRO 2003 enables you to record any audio that is running on your computer...as it's happening. It records it as one large WAV file but, it's very very simple to break that huge WAV into smaller segments and save them as MP3's. You can select the mp3 quality level OR save them as WMVs. Whatever.

I guess the only drawbacks are:

A) You have to record things in real time.

B) Any OTHER sounds that happen on your PC at that time will be recorded onto the WAV. If you have little bells and dings when you get an email or an IM...they will be on the recording. Change your preferences and you should be good to go.

I think I got it for about 30 bucks back in 2003.

- Jack Handy
you can download audacity for free... http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

it
is free and actually works pretty well... it is also great for when you
want to edit audio clips that you send into the show... it is basically
a dumbed down version of a protools
