View Full Version : Who Should Jump Ship from WWE?

This may be something of a "smark" question, considering that almost all wrestlers would rather be in the relatively financially beneficial WWE than in another less secure performing environment, even if they are being misused or buried characterwise. That being said, one wonders if a significant exodus of talented and/or relatively popular WWE performers to smaller but somewhat well-known promotions such as TNA or ROH (even though ROH appears to have some kind of working agreement with WWE) would help create a more competitive environment in the world of "sports entertainment," where WWE needs to start taking these other organizations more seriously. Perhaps if these underused wrestlers could get the same or similar money starting out as they make in WWE, the ability to more freely and purely practive their craft might propel them away from WWE and toward these other organizations, with the possibility of having more autonomy and building something good while being able to shine as performers in a more appreciative environment.

That being said, the purpose of this thread is to ask who in the WWE you believe could presently benefit from such a move.

Which current WWE wrestlers, announcers, divas, etc. do you feel would most benefit from the chance to make a "fresh start" in TNA, ROH, or somewhere else (Japan, perhaps). Please say who you feel would make the biggest impact in these places or be the "best fit" for them and why.

Thanks.

Marc

No, this is not psychomark. I am marcpsych, someone else.

I agree about the guys you listed.

However, I also saw something interesting while I was at the ROH show in Morristown this past Saturday. James Gibson (AKA Jamie Noble) is the ROH champ. He was in a title defense against Spanky and Homicide (which was later continued as a solo defense against Spanky). A good portion of the crowd was completely taking a dump on Gibson as champ and SO wanted Homicide (who is supposed to be a heel) to win the strap. Gibson was seriously almost booed out of the building, and Spanky did not fare too much better.

I thought that this was because of their not doing particularly well (after a while, at least) in WWE and because they are supposedly both going back to WWE (I had not heard this, but that is what people in the crowd were saying).

It seemed like the crowd was really doubting the credibility of both performers. I am wondering if those who go to the WWE and then return to the independents "humbled" due to a lack of a push (relegated to Heat and Velocity) receive even more abuse than if they had never left in the first place.

Maybe some guys are hesitant to jump to ROH or even TNA because they feel they might be seen as "failed" WWE performers rather than stars in their own right. Also, after seeing the decent-sized but still relatively small ROH crowd, I find it hard to imagine how even a decent star from WWE would be paid a comparable amount in ROH compared to WWE.

So maybe it just all comes back to money.

Marc
