I don't know if the title really explains what I mean, but I think
something is really wrong with us as a society. I seriously think we've
been changed by too many "edgy" TV shows, radio shows, stand up comics,
etc, and we can't seperate that stuff from reality anymore.

Too
many people say stuff like, "yeah, so I would have just banged a hooker
than hit her in the face with a hammer; What? I'm just being
honest"

The problem is it is said by someone INCAPABLE of
hurting a mouse, even less so a human of any gender. Therefore the
"honest" part is invalid, because in a real situation, they'd never
really do that.

By the same token, I think actual "sincerity" is shunned by
society. god forbid you have a passion about something other people
don't agree with or show that you have some feeling or care about
something before you make sure it's "ok because everyone else cares
about it" before you mention it. you get the "FAG" or "LOSER" response,
or the John McLauchlan via Dana Carvey "WRONG!" its very "lord of the
flies" in a way.

Remember all those people who said,
"once you get out of high school, people stop acting that way" I
think we have a whole generaton, that have gotten so old now it's
embarassing, like mid-late 30's, who were such "high school heroes"
that they've perpetuated that juvenile mindset and engraned it into
mainstream society.

Anyway, I'm just putting it out there.
personally, if I'm the only one that sees this, and I need to be locked
up in a padded room for it, so be it. I just wonder if I really am
alone in the way I see the world.
I hope your thoughts don't drift to me

I agree with you. I don't know what may have caused people to act the way they do and say the things they do these days. I'm not sure if it's edgy television, or "reality" tv, or what though I definitely see it as well. I think you can also add "insensitivity" into the mix as well. I've seen a good cominbation of both a lot lately. Whether I'm in the store, or at work, or watching tv, etc.

One of the worst shows I've seen of recent (I can't even think of the title of it), its on MTV is the one where 4 or 5 guys or girls are trying to pick up one person and they have like 4 or 5 minutes to impress the hell out of them or they get booted for the next person. Instead of the two people just talking or getting to know one another they have to have all these fake moves and be slicker than one another to try and attract the person they're trying to get. I watched maybe half of the episode when I had to change the channel. I can't watch it because it's phonyness and it just seems to be the type of typical programming these days that teaches people to lie, cheat, and steal to get what they want, and I think it's that mentality that is part of the problem with society today.

I don't like the word "sincerely" at the end of e-mails! If you were really writing to me "sincerely" you'd write down your thoughts with pen and paper and send it through the normail mail, dammit!!!

High School Never eneds. It's just like the kids from Happy Days. Maybe it's good though. High school ended for them and we got Joanie Loves Chaci.

Too many people say stuff like, "yeah, so I would have just banged a hooker than hit her in the face with a hammer; What? I'm just being honest"
The problem is it is said by someone INCAPABLE of hurting a mouse, even less so a human of any gender. Therefore the "honest" part is invalid, because in a real situation, they'd never really do that.

I have had to deal with alot of people like that back in my high school days (2 years ago). There was one kid who always talked about how tough he was and then he got into fights and has never won one of them. The people who will actually hit a streetwalker in the face with a hammer will not advertise it. The way I try to discern bullshit from honesty is by listening to way someone says something or when they say it. If someone just said they would kill a person in light conversation, more than likely they're full of shit.
