View Full Version : LiteScribe DVD burner
I finnaly gave in and bought this thing for a prodject thats been in the works for several months now. I did a test burn to the disc to see how it would come out. Didnt relize it would takeabout 25 minutes to burn the image though, Must say though it came out awsome. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this yet?

been thinking about picking up an external dvd burner since i have so much hd space taken up, but didn't even think about burn time. i'll probably hold of until the next wave of technology, bumping the price down.

Got it. Tried It. Looks nice enough, but the burn time makes it next to useless,

Cool but disappointing.

Does it enscribe graphics on the front of the DVD? My sister's new computer has a CD Burner that does this, its cool if you are willing to wait out the extra burn time.

I just got a CD-RW this year. I'll end up getting a DVD-R in like 3 years when they're almost being replaced by whatever is next.

But like everyone else says you have to wait for the laser thingy to ensrcibe the image to the disk which I thik takes longer than burning a DVD its self
I got one about a month ago. I think they're great, but it takes
about an hour to burn the label. It's easy enough to just start
it and go out or go to sleep and it'll be waiting for you when you get
back.
I use my DVD burner to archive old MP3's, such as O&A and R&F shows that I have listened to but no longer need on my hard drive. I also used it to archive my MP3's in case of hard drive failure. Its about 30 minutes burn time for me, but its 4.5 GB so its way worth it

The models that burn an image on the face of a disc -- I take it you need to use specific discs with it. How much do those discs cost?

I have a DVD+r drive in my PC. I've made copies of movies (you have to decode the files and then shrink them to make them fit on a 4.35 GB size disc) The process is cool, but since movies are so cheap it doesn't seem worth it to make these illegal copies. So far I've only copied a Lord of the Rings DVD, which I own so I guess it's not an illegal copy. I just wanted to see if I could do it.

I do find it very handy to back up MP3 files from my iTunes/iPod I have a 40GB iPod but couldn't keep all the Ron and Fez, Hideout and O&A show files I have and a DVD is perfect for archiving!
