Just wanted to let every one know that the Ultimate Fighter 2 reality show premiers tonight on Spike TV. Luke Cummo, one of the contestants, has been one of my best friends since childhood. He is an fucking lunatic and is funny as hell. He will definitely make for good television. So if you get a chance check out Spike TV at 11:05 tonight.

UFC has been brilliant in running those "best fights" shows the last few weeks. I actually have gone back to watching wrestling just because it's on before UFC, instead of the other way around like it was last year.

The UFC shows have been some of the best stuff on TV this year & I'm so glad it's back already.

Jesus Christ, this wasn't a good start to the season. How can you be picked out of hundreds or thousands of fighters and then puss out like that? I mean, what did Dana White see in these guys to begin with?

As for the training, I don't doubt for a second that it is brutal, but I cannot for the life of me understand why these guys didn't come in prepared. You saw the first fucking season so you know how bad it was gonna be. Train your ass off like you've never trained before and get in such phenominal shape that the workout doesn't nearly kill you.

As for the fighters, so far no one in particular stands out as a favorite, but I will say that the one welterweight (Melvin) needs to have his ass kicked. He's definitely this year's Chris Leben with all the shit he's talking.

And I have seen him do the wall for over 35 minutes, these kids were falling out after one minute. He is defimitely in the shape to go far, we'll see how for real he is in his first match.

Melvin let him get up after squirming out from the bottom position about four times. I don't know a lot about MMA fighting, but I've never seen anyone win a fight while doing that. And he didn't bother to tell anyone he hurt his hand & didn't intend to throw a right for the rest of the fight...dumbass.

Yeah, the guy with the shoulder problem tapped out in the first round. The funny thing is, I don't even know why he tapped. The other guy had a triangle choke on him, but it didn't even look like he had a good hold on him. He wasn't being choked out or had his arm in a lock or anything. The guy on the bottom was pulling down on the other guy's head and the next thing you know he tapped.

After the fight, you did find out his shoulder did rupture. Whether that was why he tapped, we don't know. All I know is that hold didn't look like anything worth tapping out for.

Crippler
09-07-2005, 08:26 AM
Yeah, I'm sure the ruptured labrum was painful, but it looked like he was just waiting to get caught in something so he could quit qithout shame. Unfortunately he picked a bad one & after the fight Coach Franklin alluded to the fact that it looked like he wanted to give up. Then you saw Coach Hughes not be able to look the guy in the eyes while he was trying to say his goodbyes. It was almost painful to watch that exchange.

Actually, I was pulling for Jorge to win for two reasons.

First, this Jason guy rubbed me the wrong way in his first episode. He came in all cocky like he was some big shot because of who he trained wth and pretty much disrespected the coaches right off the bat.

Second is Matt Hughes is starting to rub me the wrong way. In this last episode he clearly came across as a hypocrite with the whole showboating thing. I just wanted Jorge to win to shut Matt up for a little while.

I took Muay Thai for a while and Luke
showed how devastating it can be when you know what your doing. One of
the problems with UFC is that it has too many incomplete stand up
fighters. Many sacrifice stand up skills to learn to defend themselves
on the ground. That's why Lidell is so good. He is middle of the ground
in JJ and wrestling, but the best stand up fighter in the UFC. Luke
reminded me of the Ice Man with less punching power and more tools.
Stephenson will be a tough matchup for him, but I think Luke height and

But there's still a few guys we've barely seen fight, so maybe he'll get his rightful ass-whoopin' long before that.

When the hell did they originally show the last two semi-final matches (Stevenson vs Von Flue and Imes vs Petruzelli)?

Tuesday night, they hyped it during commercials on Monday's show. Let me guess, you have TiVo?

~~~~~~~~
Last night was a fantastic show. The only thing I didn't like was that the Sanchez/Diaz fight went to the judges. I wish it had been for a title so it could have continued & (hopefully) had a definite end.
Brad/Rashad was a good fight, but wow, Rashad has no ground game & cannot finish a fight at this point in his career. Brad showed a lot of heart by hanging on long enough to get that fight to the judges, but he just isn't seasoned enough to be a big threat.
I actually want to see Rashad drop to 205 (which he likely will do) & fight Matt somewhere down the line. I think Matt would get him to tap in the 1st round, but they could hype that match to the moon throughout TUF3. Too bad Rashad wouldn't really "deserve" a title shot in any weight class this early in his career.
Joe/Luke was great, as well. I want to see this fight again, with a finish. I think Luke will definitely be one of the guys who shows up in the UFC regardless of not winning the contract.
Looking forward to TUF3 in the Spring. I just hope they continue to be smart & run some king of UFC programming on Spike between now & April/May.
Wow...I'm finally getting around to watching UFC 56, and after the first fight, Dana White made some announcements inside the octagon:
The Ultimate Fighter 3 will feature coaches Ken Shamrock & Tito Ortiz (!) These two almost went at each other in the octagon while being introduced to the crowd. I don't know all the backstory, but Tito Ortiz is just not a well-liked individual. Should be really interesting.
February 4, 2006...Liddell/Couture 3! NICE!
April 2006...Tito Ortiz/Forrest Griffin. Tito's big return to the UFC octagon.
After TUF3...Tito Ortiz/Ken Shamrock, the rematch from 2002...assuming they don't kill each other in the house.
