I have a computer in my basement that I would like to hook up to the wireless network in my house,

Unfortunately I don't have a slot for a wireless card because the computer is a thin desktop pc. I would like to be able to have it go online - so I picked up a wireless usb adapter on my lunch hour at work. Does anyone know if these things actually work okay, and if they work okay between floors? My wireless network is on the main floor of the house, though I want the pc in the basement to be able to connect. Any wireless networking experts out there?

I have one at home that I use to set up new computers. Works ok,
but I prefer the wireless adapters that plug into the ethernet
jack. I have one of those on my media server.
Does it have an external antanea? If not, can you add one? without one, it will be much harder to get consitant signals
